India were all over New Zealand in the first innings of the ODI series opener at Eden Park, where Virat Kohli has also joined the team for the series. All eyes were on the former captain, who is known for being chirpy and lively on the field, helping the team stay on top, and the energy remained as usual on Wednesday afternoon.

The Kiwis found themselves in a precarious situation in Auckland, and as their star from the T20I series, Glenn Phillips, walked in to bat, Kohli tried to get under his skin.

The incident happened at the end of the 17th over, when the Blackcaps had just lost Tom Latham to a Gurnoor Brar, who grabbed a single-handed catch off his own bowling. Glenn Phillips joined Daryl Mitchell at number 6 after a sensational T20I series.

Knowing the batter is coming in to bat in form, Kohli looked to distract him before even facing a delivery. As Phillips spoke to Daryl Mitchell, who was at 20*(26), Kohli walked past the pair, exchanged a word, and did the famous John Cena wrestling gesture: ‘You Can’t See Me’.

New Zealand struggles in Auckland

Kohli's gesture while the hosts were already down in the match seemed to have worked, as Glenn Phillips and Daryl Mitchell, despite being in the groove recently, failed to navigate the Kiwis' innings. The duo could only add 13 runs in 25 balls together, and neither Phillips nor Mitchell could get going.

Following Kohli's 'You Can't See Me', Phillips batted 51 balls but only scored 30 runs and got out to Arshdeep Singh, hitting one straight to Shreyas Iyer. Kohli looked as sharp as ever and pulled off a brilliant catch moments later as well.

Courtesy of a final wicket stand, New Zealand finished with 185/10 in 40.2 overs. Whether Kohli gets to bat on the night remains to be seen after a good bowling effort from the Men in Blue.
