Rating all Pakistan players [Source: AFP]
Global ICC tournaments have a ruthless way of magnifying both, a team’s brilliance and its frailty. When expectations from fans tower high, every collective and individual performance is inevitably weighed under an unforgiving lens, especially after their favourite team gets crashed out of the competition.
Pakistan’s journey, under the leadership of all-rounder Agha Salman, followed that similar arc at the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka. Despite playing all their matches in Sri Lanka and travelling the least between matches among all teams in the tournament, the ‘Men in Green’ still failed to make it to the top four.

After Pakistan’s exit was sealed by hosts Sri Lanka in their final Super 8 match in Pallekele on February 28, here we rate every Pakistan player based on their T20 World Cup 2026 performance.
Rating Pakistan players out of 10 for 2026 T20 World Cup performance
Salman Agha – 4/10
Pakistan captain and all-rounder Salman Agha failed to make it count in either department throughout the 2026 T20 World Cup. He aggregated just 60 runs in the tournament, including 38 in a single innings against Namibia. The skipper also criminally under-bowled himself despite picking up a wicket in the only spell he delivered against Team India.
For his astute captaincy, which paved the way for Pakistan’s three emphatic wins in Group A and another victory over Sri Lanka in the Super 8, he earns a consolation four.
Sahibzada Farhan – 9/10
Sahibzada Farhan plundered 383 runs in just six innings of the 2026 T20 World Cup at a prolific average of 76.60. Aided by two hundreds and two additional fifties, three of them in winning causes, Farhan shattered Virat Kohli’s decade-old record to aggregate most runs in a single edition of the tournament.
However, the 30-year-old still gets a nine, with a duck against India in a high-pressure contest costing him of a perfect score.
Saim Ayub – 4/10
With the ball, Saim Ayub got the wickets that mattered, especially in the Group A games against India and Netherlands. However, the 23-year-old was included in Pakistan’s T20 World Cup team to get them off to a flier at the top of the order. Failing to do so, Ayub instead managed to mint just 70 runs in five innings at a dismal average of 70.
Fakhar Zaman – 5/10
In just two matches, Fakhar Zaman managed to make a louder impact for Pakistan than most of his peers at the showpiece. Moreover, in his only outing as an opener, the senior batter cracked a fiery 84 off just 42 balls against Sri Lanka in Pallekele.
More opportunities might have allowed him to shape Pakistan’s campaign more decisively, but with just two appearances, he walks away with a solid five.
Usman Khan – 3/10
Usman Khan started off the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup with a couple of ducks against USA and Netherlands. A fighting 44 against India thereafter in Colombo was sandwiched between those two ducks and a couple of single-digit scores in the Super 8s.
The 30-year-old, however, snared some sharp catches with the gloves and pulled off a couple of clever stumpings to somewhat offset his below-par returns with the bat.
Babar Azam – 3/10
Babar Azam, the man who mattered and a natural crowd-puller, could ‘pull’ just three out of 10 from the experts at CREX for his underwhelming returns in the tournament. Charting only 91 runs in four innings, the legendary batter was even demoted down the batting order against Namibia, and was dropped from the playing XI against Sri Lanka.

Shadab Khan – 4.5/10
Shadab Khan demonstrated his all-round pedigree with match-winning spectacles against USA and Namibia. However, the 27-year-old fell absolutely flat with both bat and ball in the matches that mattered, thus capping off his T20 World Cup crusade with just 118 runs and five wickets.
Mohammad Nawaz – 3/10
Three successive failures in the Group stage and Super 8 ducks against England and Sri Lanka led to Mohammad Nawaz gathering only 15 runs from five innings of the 2026 T20 World Cup. While the left-arm spinner picked up seven wickets in his six appearances with the ball, his expensive bowling average of 22.28 and an economy of 7.80 proved too costly for the ‘Men in Green’.
Faheem Ashraf – 2/10
Faheem Ashraf clubbed 29* off just 11 balls to pull Pakistan out of a certain jail against Netherlands in the tournament’s curtain-raiser. However, despite being a designated fast bowler, Ashraf bowled just a couple of overs in the competition, both against Namibia, and had no visible impact with the bat in Pakistan’s remaining games.
Shaheen Afridi – 4/10
Pakistan’s self-proclaimed “premium fast bowler” Shaheen Afridi picked up eight wickets in five innings at the 2026 T20 World Cup. While the numbers read impressive on paper, the speedster snared four of those wickets in a single game against England.
Getting belted by Ishan Kishan and USA batters during the Group Stage, Afridi also nearly cost Pakistan its Super 8 match against Sri Lanka, where he conceded 22 runs in the final over. The 25-year-old eventually capped his tournament with an expensive economy rate of 10.52.
Khawaja Nafay – 0/10
Pakistan’s promising wicketkeeper-batter Khawaja Nafay received just two cracks in the playing XI throughout the 2026 T20 World Cup. The 24-year-old ended up failing in both, scoring seven runs across both innings at an average of 3.50.
Two listless appearances alone cannot earn participation certificates, since performance remains the only currency at a stage of this magnitude.
Naseem Shah – 0.5/10
With Pakistan employing spinners for a major part of the tournament, Naseem Shah was included in the playing XI only for their final Super 8 match against Sri Lanka. With the new ball, the youngster made his presence known by getting the big wicket of run machine Pathum Nissanka. However, Shah eventually concluded his four-over spell with expensive figures 1-36.
Salman Mirza – 2.5/10
Salman Mirza played just three matches for Pakistan in the entire 2026 T20 World Cup. The 32-year-old fast bowler accounted for four wickets in the tournament, with three of them arriving in a single burst against Netherlands on February 7. With limited opportunities in the playing XI and lack of impact against bigger opponents like England; Mirza gets no more than a 2.5 out of 10.
Abrar Ahmed – 5/10
Playing just four matches of the 2026 T20 World Cup, Pakistan leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed made a telling impact in three of them. He picked up match-winning wickets against USA and Netherlands, and unleashed a fiery 3-23 against Sri Lanka in a game that had an aggregate of over 400 runs, thus earning himself a decent five.
If not for his wicketless and expensive spell against an Ishan Kishan-led India on February 15, Ahmed would have been firmly in contention for a higher rating.
Usman Tariq – 7/10
Usman Tariq punctured USA, decimated Namibia; and gave his all in Pakistan’s defeats against England and India. However, failure to contain Sri Lanka in Pallekele proved too costly for his side in their must-win encounter.
In any case, despite the cloud of controversy around his bowling action, he still walks away with a respectable seven out of 10 for picking up 10 wickets in five innings at a formidable bowling average of 14.10.
Only Sahibzada Farhan and Usman Tariq emerge as Pakistan’s standouts
To sum up, only opening batter Sahibzada Farhan and controversial spinner Usman Tariq emerged as standouts from an otherwise disjointed Pakistan campaign at the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Having their hopes dashed before the semifinals, the early exit may afford Pakistan’s players valuable breathing space ahead of their upcoming away ODI series against Bangladesh later this month.
