Shoaib Malik has broken his silence regarding rumours of getting married for the third time. In a detailed public statement, the former Pakistan captain clarified his stance and urged fans and media outlets to stop circulating unverified news.

The 44-year-old further warned of taking strict legal action against those spreading such claims, asserting that the circulation of unverified reports is adversely affecting his family’s mental well-being.

Shoaib Malik releases official media statement

In a strongly-worded official statement, former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik put an end to all rumours regarding the possibility of his third marriage. Addressing the growing media hype around his personal life, Malik alleged that “people have attempted to tarnish” his reputation ever since his second marriage to Pakistan actress Sana Javed.

He also stated that his “first marriage” with Indian tennis player Sania Mirza came to an end in 2023 with “mutual consent”.

Malik added that several media outlets are unnecessarily linking him with individuals that he has never even met with. He stated that such unverified and baseless claims are impacting his son, and the claims have also prompted fans to target his wife Sana for social media trolling.

Shoaib Malik said, “It was early 2023 when my first marriage ended, with mutual consent it was decided that we will co-parent our child. It was after this only, that I got remarried. I've always sought to keep my private life private, out of respect for my family. However, my silence seems to have been taken for granted.”

He added, “Since my second marriage, people have attempted to tarnish my reputation by linking me to individuals I've never met. Unverified stories about my personal life have been written without my permission. People have targeted my wife with negative remarks for the things she was never involved in and that’s unacceptable for me.”

“I feel this has reached a point where it must be addressed, as my son is now at an age where he'll be reading these false and fabricated stories, spread for views for mere pennies of earnings, these lame accusations are causing distress to those who care about.”

Shoaib Malik warns of strict legal action

The former Pakistan skipper further urged everyone to “stop spreading misinformation” about his personal life and family. He implied that media outlets and fans have already “crossed the line” with repeated privacy invasions.

Malik further threatened to take a strict legal action against individuals and firms who will continue to spread unverified reports of his marriage life.

He wrote, “I urge everyone to refrain from spreading misinformation about my personal life, or anyone's. As a public figure, I understand scrutiny comes with the support, but there's a limit. Invading privacy or damaging reputations crosses that line. Act responsibly, there is much more to life than just few likes and views. I have a family just like you all do.”

The 44-year-old added, “I hope this message is taken positively, and assumptions/jokes about my personal life will stop. Failure to do so will result in strict legal action from my team against individuals and firms.”

A dive into Shoaib Malik’s marital life

Contrary to Shoaib Malik’s claim that his “first marriage” ended in 2023, his marriage to Indian tennis player Sania Mirza was reportedly his second. According to certain reports, he was first married to Ayesha Siddiqui in 2002 before their divorce was finalised in 2010.

He married Sania Mirza later in 2010, and the two mutually parted ways in 2023. As of now, he is married to Pakistani television actress Sana Javed.

He recently announced his retirement from PSL ahead of the upcoming 2026 season. The decorated former captain, a veteran of 287 ODIs, 124 T20Is and 35 Tests, can now be seen making expert appearances on Pakistan sports shows.
