Virat Kohli reached the top of the world once again on Saturday (November 7) when India and New Zealand met in Wellington for the second ODI of the five-match series. Kohli, moments after coming into the middle following Shubman Gill’s first-ever golden duck in the format, reached the top of the list of most ODI runs against New Zealand, leaving behind Ricky Ponting’s tally.

Kohli reached there in his 38th ODI match against New Zealand. Ponting, on the other hand, took 50 innings to aggregate 1971 runs.

For India, Sachin Tendulkar had the most ODI runs against New Zealand earlier. He had 1750 runs in 41 innings against them, which was broken during the IND vs NZ 1st ODI.

India Reduce To 39/3 After Rohit Sharma's Departure

Meanwhile, India did not get off to a good start in Wellington with the bat in hand. They first lost Shubman Gill, and the big two – Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma – did not last long either.

Thus, they slipped to 39/3 while chasing an easy target of 135. Gurnoor Brar made all the headlines earlier with his career-best bowling figures of 10-2-30-4. However, the Men in Blue batters, so far, have failed to compliment him.

Auqib Nabi, Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel and Anshul Kamboj were all impressive with the ball in hand after Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to field first.
