On Friday (November 6), Shadman Islam was stretchered off the field in the middle of Bangladesh vs West Indies 2nd Test, taking place at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. It was a horrific incident in the world of cricket, as Shadman kept hiding his face while being taken off the field.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) provided an update on Shadman to clarify things for ardent cricket fans. Bangladesh’s physio, Bayjedul Islam Khan, released a video with all the details.

Shadman Islam Out Of 1st Innings In BAN vs WI 2nd Test

As expected, Bayjedul confirmed that Shadman Islam was not in a condition to hold the bat for Bangladesh at present. Thus, he will be out of action for at least the first innings of the BAN vs WI 2nd Test.

And if the full scan report goes south, he might miss the entire Test match for Bangladesh, leaving them in all sorts of trouble.

"Shadman Islam hurt his ankle while fielding today and couldn't take any further part in the field afterwards," Bayjedul said in a video release on Friday.

"We have kept him under observation and he has also undergone a scan. It looks like he has sustained an injury. We will get the scan report tomorrow [Saturday], after which we can provide full details regarding how much recovery time he might need. At this moment, he is not in a condition to bat in the first innings."

Can Bangladesh Take A Replacement For Shadman?

Unfortunately, Bangladesh won’t have anyone as a replacement for Shadman Islam. As they can’t use a concussion substitute because it's not related to his head, they might have to play with 10 men for the entire match.

Not to forget, Shadman was the only centurion in BAN vs WI 1st Test. In his absence, Nayeem Hasan opened for Bangladesh on Friday to pair with Tanzid Hasan Tamim. He didn't last long, falling for 5.

Bangladesh might have to reshuffle their batting order again in the second innings against West Indies.
