Vaibhav Sooryavanshi stunned one-and-all by attending the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, May 31. The young Rajasthan Royals opener might have possibly attended the venue to collect his ‘Orange Cap’ award, which he is now set to receive following the early dismissal of Sai Sudharsan during the Gujarat Titans innings in the IPL 2026 final.

Watching all the action from the sidelines, Sooryavanshi can be seen sitting alongside several bigwigs. Talking with ICC chairman and ex-BCCI secretary Jay Shah, the 15-year-old was also sitting besides one of the new owners of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) franchise.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi set to become youngest Orange Cap winner

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is set to win the coveted Orange Cap of the IPL 2026 season after the final match between Gujarat Titans and defending champions RCB in Ahmedabad.

Initially threatened by Titans openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan on the run-scoring charts, both cricketers were dismissed cheaply in the game by RCB new ball fast bowlers Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar respectively inside the opening powerplay.

Sooryavanshi has hauled 776 runs so far this IPL 2026 season at a prolific average of 48.50 and with an astronomical batting strike rate of 237.30, plundering one century and five fifties in the process.

Moreover, the youngster whacked three scores of 90 or more in his last four innings of the tournament, which included a fighting 47-ball against 96 against the Titans at the second qualifier in New Chandigarh a couple of days ago. Sooryavanshi will also become the youngest cricketer in IPL history to bag the ‘Orange Cap’, doing so at the age of just 15 years and 65 days.

RCB in the driver’s seat

Winning the toss and bowling first, RCB bowlers restricted hosts Gujarat Titans to just 155-8 in 20 overs upfront. Uncapped Rasikh Salam unfurled the spell of the innings with exceptional bowling figures of 3-27.

Krunal Pandya also conceded just 23 runs off his four overs with the added bonus of Jos Buttler’s wicket. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood both struck with the new ball to signal RCB’s early momentum.

For the Titans, all-rounder Washington Sundar struck the lone half-century of the innings, scoring 50* off 37 balls.

In response, the RCB are cruising at 62-1 after five overs. If Rajat Patidar and co. manage to win the final, RCB will become only the third franchise in IPL history to retain a title.
