Sooryavanshi could be picked; Ishan might miss out [Source: AFP]
According to emerging reports, young batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is all set to be part of the India squad for Asian Games. Sooryavanshi enjoyed stellar success in IPL 2026, emerging as the most successful batter for Rajasthan Royals.
The list also included swashbuckling batters like Ishan Kishan, Abhishek Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal, while India's 2026 T20 World Cup-winning captain Suryakumar Yadav failed to make in into the 30-member probables.
The 2026 edition of the Asian Games will be played in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. The cricket tournament will be played in the T20 format between September 17 and October 3.
India were prolific in the previous edition of the tournament, as they clinched the prestigious gold medal after their final against Afghanistan was washed out due to rain.
As they gear up to sustain their dominance in the Asian Games, here we analyse and predict their best possible squad for the marquee event.

(Indian top order batters in IPL 2026)
15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi might pip Yashasvi Jaiswal and make it into the India squad for Asian Games as an opener. He comprehensively outclassed Jaiswal in the IPL 2026, and could be picked for the opening slots alongside Abhishek Sharma.
With Suryakumar Yadav likely to miss out, the onus will be on Sanju Samson to spearhead the Indian batting unit alongside Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
As India will host the West Indies for three ODIs during the period, Ishan Kishan might not find a place in the Asian Games squad. The same thing can be said about Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shreyas Iyer, who are in India's plans for the 2027 World Cup.

Rinku Singh, who played some impactful knocks and scored 295 runs for KKR in IPL 2026, will likely be picked to bolster the middle order along with Tilak Varma. Meanwhile, Dhruv Jurel could be chosen as the backup wicketkeeper.
All-rounders: Nitish Kumar Reddy, Shivam Dube, Harsh Dubey
Hardik Pandya's workload will be judiciously managed leading to the 2027 World Cup. As he has been prone to injuries, the BCCI might not pick him in the India squad for Asian Games.
Therefore, Nitish Kumar Reddy could get it into the team as the first-choice seam bowling allrounder alongside Shivam Dube. Reddy played a crucial role for SRH in IPL 2026, scoring 302 runs and scalping eight wickets in the tournament.
Although Shivam Dube blew hot and cold in the tournament, his improved game against fast bowling and remarkable returns in the T20 World Cup could prompt the BCCI to select him in the India squad for Asian Games.
Harsh Dubey might be chosen over Axar Patel, as the latter will likely play the home ODI series against West Indies.
Bowlers: Arshdeep Singh, Ravi Bishnoi, Prasidh Krishna, Yash Thakur, Varun Chakaravarthy
With the BCCI set to manage Jasprit Bumrah's workload, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh will likely lead the bowling attack in the Asian Games.
The wily duo of Varun Chakaravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi could be picked as the frontline spinners, while Yash Thakur and Prasidh Krishna might make it into the India squad for Asian Games as specialist bowlers.
