Big match, final of the IPL 2026, and Virat Kohli always remains pumped up for such big occasions. The RCB legend is an animated character, and he never shies away from expressing his emotions on the field, and the Gujarat Titans felt it firsthand in the IPL 2026 grand finale.
The Gujarat Titans have three match-winners in their top three, Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler, and for RCB to win the game, they had to dismiss the trio quickly. Josh Hazlewood, the lanky pacer made the job easier by taking the wicket of captain Gill, and more than the bowler, it was Kohli, who was fired up.
Kohli's animated celebration after Gill's dismissal
With Jacob Duffy going for plenty in his first over, RCB captain, Rajat Patidar was quick to introduce Josh Hazlewood in the attack, and the Aussie seamer struck immediately.
Gill hammered a boundary against Hazlewood, and he decided to take him down again as the batter wanted to play a short-arm jab as Hazlewood pulled his length back. Gill got a top-edge and the ball went straight into the hands of Patidar at mid-off.
Every single RCB player celebrated Gill’s wicket, but Kohli was more fired up as he roared loudly and celebrated in Gill’s face as the GT captain walked back to the pavilion with a disappointed face.

Reason why Kohli was so pumped up for Gill's wicket
The side has three quality batters in Sudharsan, Gill, and Buttler, but the team captain still remains Titans’ most valuable and important player. He has a stellar IPL record in Ahmedabad, and the right-handed player knows the Narendra Modi Stadium conditions on the back of his hands.
Moreover, Gill has been consistent in the IPL for the last four seasons, and the trend continued in IPL 2026, as he amassed 732 runs in 16 matches, with a solitary hundred, and a strike rate of 163.
Kohli, and the rest of the RCB players knew the importance of dismissing Gill early, and when that happened, the RCB great, Kohli was all fired up.
Not the first time Kohli celebrated Gill's wicket
Kohli plays alongside Gill in the national team, and he knows how dangerous the youngster could be. Interestingly, this is not the first time the former RCB skipper has shown signs of aggression when Gill has been at the crease.

In the league stage game at the same venue, RCB were bundled out cheaply, and GT were cruising towards the target. RCB needed to dismiss him, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck as Kohli took the catch at covers, and he immediately showed his emotions.
Kohli unleashed a wave of raw emotions as he banged the ball onto the turf, and gave an animated send-off to his Indian teammate.
GT under pressure in IPL 2026 final
RCB won the toss and Patidar elected to bowl first. The decision instantly paid off as Hazlewood got the prized wicket of Gill, and it was followed by the big scalp of Sai Sudharsan, another leading run-getter of the IPL 2026.
Just when a partnership was brewing between Jos Buttler and Nishant Sindhu, Rasikh Salam broke the pair and dismissed Sindhu to push GT on the back foot as the side is reeling at 59/3 inside 9 overs.
