The entire schedule of the upcoming IPL 2026 season has been finally unveiled. The broadcast of PSL 2026 has been banned in India by the Indian government. In other news, a Sri Lanka-based RCB fast bowler has been ruled out of IPL 2026.

Capping an eventful day in the world of cricket, here we take a look at five of the biggest cricketing news that emerged out of Thursday, March 26.

IPL 2026 full schedule finally unveiled

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled the entire schedule of the upcoming IPL 2026 season, after having confirmed the itinerary of the first phase of the tournament. As per the schedule, the IPL 2026 season will feature 74 matches, as opposed to the 84 as reported earlier.

The upcoming 19th edition of the competition is still on track to launch on Saturday, March 28 with a match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and defending champions RCB at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

BCCI announce India’s entire home international 2026-27 schedule

The BCCI has also confirmed Team India’s entire schedule for the 2026-27 home international season. As per the announcement, the Indian team will start off its home season with three ODIs and five T20I matches against West Indies in September and October. The Indian team will then host Sri Lanka for a short ODI and a T20I series in December before taking on Zimbabwe for three ODI matches.

India’s home season will conclude with a hectic five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series against Australia in January and February next year.

Fakhar Zaman joins Babar Azam for huge PSL record

Lahore Qalandars opener Fakhar Zaman struck 53 runs off just 39 balls in the opening match of the PSL 2026 season. Batting at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore against Hyderabad Kingsmen bowlers, the senior Pakistani batter struck 10 boundaries in the process. Through the course of his knock, Fakhar also completed 3,000 runs in his PSL career, becoming only the second cricketer in the history of the tournament to scale the landmark figure after legendary batter Babar Azam.

The blistering left-hander is currently sitting on a pile of 3,017 runs in 98 PSL matches at an average of 31.10.

PSL 2026 broadcast banned in India

The Indian government has banned Pakistani online streaming applications in India, doing so just ahead of the opening match of the PSL 2026 season. Notably, on March 25, the PSL had confidently announced that fans in India will be able to view the tournament on the Tapmad TV OTT app, prompting fans to mock the council given the fact that the Pakistani league will be running in tandem with the IPL 2026.

However, as of now, there is virtually no option available in India to watch PSL 2026 action. The decision was likely made by the Indian government in light of the ongoing geo-political tensions between the two countries.

Nuwan Thushara to miss IPL 2026 for RCB

Sri Lanka fast bowler Nuwan Thushara is set to miss the entire upcoming IPL 2026 season for the RCB franchise. The 31-year-old has been denied NoC by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) owing to necessary fitness concerns.

Thushara was one of the many cricketers retained by the RCB franchise after winning the IPL 2025 season last year. Incidentally, he played just one match for the RCB during their triumphant crusade, picking up a wicket from his four overs at an average of 26.
