Fakhar Zaman T20I Career
Fakhar Zaman’s dream of representing Pakistan was fulfilled on March 30, 2017, against the West Indies. In his first three T20I innings, he managed just 26 runs.
The Pakistani batter’s breakthrough moment came in July 2018, when he scored 91 runs against Australia to help his team secure the T20 tri-series. He was named the Man of the Match as well as the Player of the Series for his performances. In the pursuit, Zaman became the first Pakistani batsman to score 500 or more runs in T20Is in a calendar year.
His brilliant knocks against New Zealand and Ireland earned him a spot in Pakistan’s 2024 T20 World Cup. When it comes to fireworks at the start, Pakistan has high expectations of their top-order batsmen ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026.
Fakhar Zaman ODI Career
Fakhar was entrusted by the national selectors as the opener for the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. The decision was proven correct, as Fakhar played an inspiring knock for the Men in Green.
Zaman’s hundred in the Champions Trophy final is widely considered to be one of the greatest innings of his life. His strike of 114 runs off 106 deliveries included 12 boundaries and three sixes, which helped Pakistan post a mammoth total of 338 runs in a resounding victory. He was also declared the player of the match, which elevated his status back home.
Moving on, in 2018, Zaman became the first Pakistani batsman to cross the double hundred mark in ODIs. He scored a brilliant 210 unbeaten off 156 balls against Zimbabwe on July 20th, 2018.
Notably, after a dip in form in 2023, Fakhar scored an immaculate 126 off 81 balls against New Zealand, which many pundits regard as his best knock.
Fakhar Zaman Test Career
Fakhar Zakam made his Test debut for Pakistan against Australia on October 16, 2018, in Abu Dhabi. He had a stellar start, scoring 94 and 66, becoming the first Pakistani opener to hit a fifty in both innings of a debut match. However, he has been out of the action in the longest format of the game since 2019.
