Sarfaraz Khan in CSK nets [Source: CSK's social media handle]
The IPL teams are ready and prepped to begin their encounter for the IPL 2026 season. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are also not lagging behind. In a recent social media video released by the franchise a hilarious net session was seen where Sarfaraz Khan, the wicket-keeper batter for Chennai was observed in his trademark antics.
Sarfaraz Khan, otherwise a quirky character on field known for his hilarious stump mic exchanges and comical running with Rishabh Pant during a Test match, was seen firing some shots in the CSKnets while almost pulling off a Rishabh Pant-esque accident.
CSK Roped Sarfaraz Khan in IPL 2026 Auction
The Kings were among those teams who have spent a fortune in the IPL 2026 auction, with a remaining purse of ₹2.40 crore. Khan, the wicketkeeper-batter from India and a flamboyant character who famously lost a lot of bodyweight after the New Zealand series in 2024, was bought for his base price of ₹75 lakh INR.
Sarfaraz was a tricky addition to the yellow camp, although he might not find himself in the primary playing XI, with better options already at hand. However, he remains an Indian injury backup option and also an impact substitute in case of difficult pitch conditions.
Nevertheless, Sarfaraz Khan, who had a super impressive Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 campaign, will remain in the thoughts for CSK.

Sarfaraz Pulls Off Flamboyant Moves In The Nets
Adding to his visibility on the internet, Khan was found pulling off some antics that Rishabh Pant usually works on. In the nets, while facing various pace and spin bowlers, Khan was seen cracking shots that looked super impressive.
In the video released on Chennai Super Kings' social media handle, the very first clip saw Sarfaraz Khan pick a shorter leg-side delivery, which he hammered towards third leg with a crafty pull shot. However, that led him to stumble on the crease as he fell hilariously, slightly grazing his right foot.

Nevertheless, the practice session continued with fiery hammerings from the 28-year-old. From leg sweeps to slashing Jamie Overton for a leg glance and a hook, Khan aced the practice session with his flamboyant moves, much like what Rishabh Pant does in matches.
Khan’s Recent Red Hot Form
Sarfaraz Khan will be one of the primary players to keep an eye on in this IPL 2026 for CSK. In SMAT, he averaged 65.80 at a massive strike rate of 203.09, where his innings against Rajasthan for Mumbai was one to take note of.
He bagged 73 runs from just 22 deliveries, firing at full blast. Against Haryana too, he slammed a 25-ball 64, and against Assam, he peaked with a 47-ball hundred to underline his dominance with the bat, showing off his form ahead of the tournament.
Chennai Ready For Sixth IPL Title Bout
The full IPL 2026 schedule is now released, with Chennai Super Kings getting seven home games and seven away games, with their inaugural match against Rajasthan Royals on March 30 and their concluding clash against Gujarat Titans on May 21 in Chennai.
After finishing at the bottom of the points table last year, CSK will aim to turn things around this time. At the auction, the five-time winners acquired some marquee players like Matt Henry and Zak Foulkes in a bid to enhance their pace attack.
Meanwhile, Ruturaj Gaikwad will continue as the captain of the side after missing a chunk of IPL 2025 due to injury, as MS Dhoni led the side. With a squad full of mixed talent and experience, Chennai will aim for their sixth title bout.
