BCCI Announces Border-Gavaskar Trophy Schedule; India Fixtures Vs WI, SL, ZIM Revealed

In a significant development, the BCCI has officially announced the schedule for the Indian men's international home season 2026-27. This season will see India host four teams, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, and Australia, in a series of 22 matches across 17 cities.

The season kicks off with the West Indies tour of India, scheduled to start at the end of September. The tour will begin with a three-match ODI series.

India's international home season 2026-27

It is important to mention that the first ODI of the West Indies tour of India will be played on September 27. The second match of the series will be played at ACA Stadium, Barsapara, on September 30. The last and final ODI of the series will be played on October 3, 2026, at New Chandigarh. 

Following the ODIs, the two teams will compete in a five-match T20I series. These T20 matches will be hosted across Lucknow, Ranchi, Indore, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru.

India to host Sri Lanka in December 2026

In December 2026, India will host Sri Lanka for another white-ball series. This tour will include three ODIs and three T20Is. The ODIs will be played in Delhi, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad, while the T20Is will be held in Rajkot, Cuttack, and Pune.

The first ODI of the Sri Lanka Tour of India 2026 will be played on December 13, followed by the second on December 16, and the third on December 19.

The new year will start with Zimbabwe touring India in January 2027. This tour will feature a three-match ODI series.

The season will conclude with the highly anticipated Australia tour of India. The series will be a full five-match Test series played across Nagpur, Chennai, Guwahati, Ranchi, and Ahmedabad from January to March 2027.

The first Test match of the much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be played from January 21 to 25. The 2nd Test will be played at Chennai from January 29 to February 2.

The third Test match will be played from February 11 to 15, and the fourth match will be played from February 19. The last and the final Test of the BGT will be played from February 27 to March 3 at Ahmedabad.

How many ODI matches will Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli play?

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are set to have a limited run in ODIs ahead of the 2027 World Cup. It is important to mention that both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have announced their retirement from Tests and T20Is.

According to the current schedule, the veteran duo is expected to feature in just 9 ODI matches. Among these fixtures, the three-match ODI series against West Indies, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe are scheduled. 

With limited ODI opportunities available, each match becomes crucial for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to fine-tune their form as India builds toward the 2027 World Cup.
