In a massive recent update, Devon Conway, the New Zealand batter, has been ruled out of the entire India vs New Zealand ODI series after suffering a concussion during a training session on Tuesday.

Initially, ahead of the India vs New Zealand first ODI on Wednesday, that is, on November 4, reports suggested that Devon Conway and Matt Henry suffered a concussion while fielding in the nets.

While trying to attempt a catch, the fielders collided with each other, which resulted in both of them being injured and apparently ruled out of the first ODI.

Nick Kelly set to replace Conway in New Zealand squad vs India

Devon Conway was immediately attended to by the physios and the medical team after the injury on Tuesday and was even admitted to the hospital for further checkups.

It was reported that his participation in the remainder of the series would be officially updated as he would be subject to fitness assessments alongside Matt Henry.

Now, as per New Zealand Cricket, Conway has been ruled out of the entire ODI series, and a new replacement has been added to the squad.

As a like-for-like replacement, Nick Kelly, a 33-year-old New Zealand veteran who has featured in eight ODIs and seven T20Is for the country, has been added to the squad.

Matt Henry gets green light, Kelly likely in Playing XI

The top-order batter Nick Kelly has 265 runs under his belt at an average of 33.12 in ODIs, while having three half-centuries in the same format. In List A cricket, he averages 31.87, with 3,538 runs under his belt.

Although he has been added to the squad, it is unlikely that he will immediately find a place in the Playing XI. However, given the poor performance of the top order, there is also a chance that the management would like to replace Henry Nicholls with Kelly.

In the same report, it has also been clarified that Matt Henry has now been cleared and given the green light to play the second ODI match against India, which would likely see him replace Blair Tickner in the playing eleven.

Given Tickner's poor performance with the ball, where he bowled his four overs but remained wicketless at an economy rate of 9.50, Henry, who missed out on a few matches in the T20I leg, is likely to get the nod.
