Abu Dhabi T10 Teams Look For Pakistan Player Replacements After PCB’s Cash Demand

After snubbing their players from the Nepal Premier League 2026, the Pakistan Cricket Board held off issuing No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to Pakistan players for the Abu Dhabi T10 League. With mediation offered, the parties have now failed to come to a conclusion with only two days left for the tournament.

Now, the participation of Pakistani players in the tournament has become highly unlikely, as the T10 league has been issued a fee of USD 10,000 for each NOC by the PCB. If the league fails to pay the fee, the players drafted by those leagues will not receive NOCs.

Abu Dhabi T10 franchises look at replacements after mediation

As per a report from Cricinfo, the Abu Dhabi T10 management had earlier submitted an application for NOCs for Pakistani players immediately after the player draft took place on September 30, 2026.

However, according to officials, the PCB only communicated its demand for the massive fee at the start of the first week of November. The tournament is set to be played from November 7, and this late request has now left the franchises in a dilemma over whether to pay the fee or look for replacement players.

PCB declines mediation offer from T10 franchises

A total of 16 players from Pakistan were picked by five of the six teams in the Abu Dhabi T10 player draft. And as per the same report from Cricinfo, it is understood that some players are willing to pay the fee to the PCB from their own salaries in case the team owners refuse to pay the USD 10,000 fee.

It has also been understood that the franchises have made efforts to seek mediation from the cricket board. However, teams are now more inclined towards exploring replacement players than paying the extra fee from their pocket.

Players picked at Abu Dhabi T10 draft: Salman Irshad (Arabian Aces), Akif Javed, Hasan Nawaz, Ali Raza (Emirates Eagles), Naseem Shah (Royal Desert Champions), Shadab Khan, Mohammad Amir, Khawaja Nafay, Khushdil Shah, Azam Khan, Mohammad Wasim Jnr (UAE Bulls), Fakhar Zaman, Iftikhar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Sufyan Moqeem, Abbas Afridi (United Tigers)

Owing to this fee issue, opportunities for Pakistani players in overseas leagues are continuing to thin. The same happened with the ILT20 as well, where the PCB felt that the reason for applying the fee to leagues was applicable when a reciprocal player availability arrangement was not particularly attractive.
