6 matches played, 5 losses suffered; this has been Team India’s fate on the UK tour against Ireland and England so far. The Men in Blue entered the UK shores as the defending T20 World Champions, but all the aura faded as Ireland hammered them 0-2, and England currently leads against them, 3-0.

India was expected to steamroll the Irish side, but the hosts gave them a reality check with a whitewash. England continued the tradition as they have blanked the Shreyas Iyer-led side in three of the four matches (one being a washout contest).

Once the India vs England T20I series concludes, the Men in Blue will travel to Zimbabwe for a T20I series, and while many expect the Asian side to win, the matches won’t be an easy affair as Zimbabwe have the bowlers to exploit India's biggest weakness.

What the Zimbabwean bowlers should learn from the India vs England series

Almost all the Indian batters have failed on the UK tour, and the reason for it has been obvious: They have failed to adjust to the tricky batting conditions. In India, while playing in the IPL, the same batters get flat wickets to perform, where the ball hardly bounces.

Stroke-making is easier in India, and thus, the Indian batters generally have a honeymoon period while playing the IPL. However, they fail to adjust when they move to a SENA country. In England, the ball moves a bit, the surface provides more bounce, and the England bowlers have used it to their advantage against India.

(Indian batters vs short balls from England seamers)

  • The England bowlers knew that the Indian batters would find it hard to tackle the short-of-a-length deliveries after playing in the IPL, and they exploited the weakness to perfection. As the data suggests, the Indian batters scored 171 runs in 118 balls against short-pitched deliveries, but 11 batters threw their wickets away on such a length.
  • The Indian batters averaged just 15.54 throughout the series, and the strike rate was just 144. The England seamers had done their homework, and this is what the Zimbabwean bowlers will try and apply.

Zimbabwe bowlers who can trouble India in the upcoming T20Is

Zimbabwe has tall pacers, and they’ll try to bamboozle the Indian batters with deliveries that are ideally short-of-length, or bouncers. Here are 3 Zimbabwe bowlers who have the skillsets to dismantle the Indian batters with such deliveries.

1) Blessing Muzarabani

Arguably one of the most underrated pacers in world cricket, Blessing Muzarabani, the 6ft 8-inch Zimbabwe bowler, has the capability to take down the Indian batting lineup, almost single-handedly. What is Muzarabani’s biggest strength? It is his ability to generate extra bounce off the surface to trouble the opposition batters.

Even from a good length spot, he can extract bounce, and that could be trouble for the Men in Blue. Against India, Muzarabani has scalped 8 wickets, with an economy of just 7.64. His economy drops to 7.22 at home, and thus, he’ll be a dangerous commodity for the struggling Indian batters.

2) Richard Ngarava

As history suggests, left-arm pacers have always troubled the Indian batters, and the trend is likely to continue in the upcoming T20I series between the two nations. Standing at 6 ft 6 in, Richard Ngarava has the ability to move the ball both ways, and with his height, he can make the ball bounce from an awkward angle.

The left-arm bowler can also clock a decent speed, and the Harare surface could assist him in creating problems for the visitors. Moreover, since the start of 2025, Ngarava has scalped 36 T20I wickets in 27 matches, and the pacer will be eager to add a few more to his name against India.

3) Brad Evans

A quality all-rounder who can tame India, not only with the ball, but with the bat as well. A right-arm pacer, Brad Evans could be deceptively quick, and he also boasts a strong record in the T20I format.

With the ball, he has 46 wickets in 31 T20I matches, with an economy of just 7.98. Just like the two names mentioned above him, Evans, too, can extract bounce, and he, too, has the ability to punish the Indian batters with the back-of-length deliveries.
