It was the second time under Hardik Pandya's leadership that Mumbai Indians failed to qualify for the playoffs, leading to reports that several franchises were keeping an eye on his future.

Is Hardik Pandya-CSK Trade Actually Taking Place?
The rumours are not entirely new. Over the past few weeks, reports have suggested that many IPL franchises are interested in signing Hardik if he is released by MI or available for trade. CSK and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have both been linked with the Indian all-rounder.
However, there has been no official confirmation that trade discussions have started, and CSK had earlier denied reports of a deal.
“CSK has not even done the review of the season yet, and we will only do so after the MLC is complete. I am currently in the US. We have not spoken to anyone, and all that is being said about Hardik and CSK is untrue,” remarked the CSK CEO while speaking to Revsportz.
Why Hardik Pandya Is An Important Player In IPL?
Hardik Pandya is one of the most valuable players in the IPL because he contributes in more than one way. He can be used as a strong finisher and, along with that, can also contribute with the ball, and, above all, brings captaincy experience.
However, injuries and inconsistent form have affected his recent performances. In IPL 2026, Pandya scored 206 runs in 10 innings at an average of 22.89 with a strike rate of 138.26. He just picked up 4 wickets with an economy rate of 11.43.
Hardik also suffered a quadriceps injury along with a recurring back spasm in IPL 2026. As a result, he has been ruled out of India's white-ball tours of Afghanistan and England. He is currently recovering at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru and is working towards a return to full fitness.
