Shreyas Iyer is not one of the quickest runners between the wickets, and often he finds himself in deep water trying to sneak in a quick single. One such incident occurred in the India vs England 4th T20I match at Bristol.
Iyer is known for his shot-making and his ability to clear the fence with ease, but he was involved in a funny incident with his teammate and batting partner, Abhishek Sharma.
The Indian batting pair were almost involved in a run-out incident, but Abhishek found the lighter side as he cheekily mocked Iyerâs running ability.
Abhishek takes a jibe at Iyer's running between the wickets
In an over bowled by Sam Curran, the English all-rounder delivered a slower-length ball as Iyer taps it on the off-side and takes a stride for a quick single. However, the ball was straight into the hands of the fielder as Iyer called for a loud no.
Abhishek, his non-striking partner, was almost halfway down the track when he heard the sound of "no" and immediately turned back to keep himself safe.
He put in a dive as the throw was accurate towards his end. The southpaw could have been run out, but the incident brought out a funny side as the batter mocked Iyer for his running.

âArey paaji, thoda jaldi karo yaar. Aap do steps aa rahe ho, aur main⌠(Brother, run fast, you only have to take two steps, meanwhile, I have to charge),â Abhishek said.
The words were certainly kind from Abhishek, but the incident was serious as one good throw and he could have been a goner.
Abhishek flops as Shreyas Iyer saves India's batting
It was a must-win clash for India to stay alive in the series, and after winning the toss, captain Iyer elected to bat first. The decision turned out to be a nightmare as Vaibhav Sooryavanshi departed early, and Ishan Kishan followed him soon.
Abhishek Sharma, too, crumbled under pressure as he scored just 16 off 14 balls to leave India in a tricky situation. This is when Iyer raised his hands and played a lone warriorâs knock.

He struggled against pace, but made it up with a breathtaking assault against Adil Rashid to complete a 334-ball fifty, and in the process, attained several records. The Indian skipper remained unbeaten at 80 off 49 as India posted a modest 158-7.
Iyer attains unwanted record despite his heroics with the bat
Iyer played one of his best T20I knocks, but that wasnât enough as Harry Brook and Phil Salt blew away the Men in Blue in the fourth game of the series.
The target was chased down with 9 wickets in hand as both Brook and Salt scored quickfire fifties to steer England to a series win.
England have taken an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series, and with that, Iyer has created an unwanted captaincy feat. He became the first Indian captain to lose a T20I series in England.
MS Dhoni had lost a T20I each in 2011, and 2014, but that was only a solitary match, and not a full-fledged series. Virat Kohli won the T20I series in 2018, and Rohit Sharma attained the feat in 2022.
