The 2nd ODI between India and New Zealand is turning out to be a low-scoring thriller. New Zealand, batting first, tumbled for just 132 runs on the board. In reply, India also lost three wickets within the powerplay. Rohit Sharma was among the ones to depart, but the former India captain tried to counter-attack and found slight success.

Rohit Sharma returned to the pavilion after scoring 23 (28), which featured 2 fours and 2 sixes. Notably, with the two maximums, Rohit Sharma shattered Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi’s long-standing six-hitting feat.

Rohit Sharma having a series to forget

So far, Rohit Sharma is not having the best of a series. The Hitman started the tour with a six-ball duck. Overall, the 39-year-old has just 24 runs in 2 innings. In 16 innings, Rohit has just 460 runs against New Zealand in New Zealand, averaging 32.85 with the bat. He is still searching for his maiden century at the Kiwis ' backyard.

Rohit’s poor form has reignited the debate over his place in the ODI World Cup squad. The past 6 months have not been easy for Rohit, who has been rumoured several times to be retiring or left out of the team. However, he is struggling with consistencies and might again have to answer the critics who are questioning his place in the team because the World Cup is still a year’s time away.
