In the 42nd match of the IPL 2026 season, the Gujarat Titans will be up against the RCB on April 30 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The match will begin at 7:30 PM IST.

In their last encounter, RCB beat GT by 5 wickets in a high-scoring run chase. Sai Sudharsan scored a hundred to guide his team to 205/3. However, Virat Kohli (81) and Devdutt Padikkal (55) took the game away with a 115-run partnership.

RCB chased down the total in 18.5 overs to seal a comfortable win. Now, as the two teams meet again, let’s explore the strongest XI that GT can field against RCB at Ahmedabad.

GT playing XI vs RCB, IPL 2026, Match 42

Top Order - Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler

Gujarat Titans’ top order is absolutely untouchable. Sai Sudharsan has regained his form by scoring a hundred against RCB and 87 against CSK in the last game.

As for Shubman Gill, he is the leading run-scorer for GT this year, with 330 runs at 47.14 average. Even Jos Buttler has made healthy contributions to support the openers.

Hence, GT’s top order is its greatest strength, and that shouldn’t be misplaced. One partnership can turn things around magically for Gujarat Titans.

Middle Order - Washington Sundar, Shah Rukh Khan, Jason Holder

GT have used Washington Sundar at no. 4 this year, and he has done decently well. So, he should be allowed to gain more experience at that slot. After Sundar, Shah Rukh Khan is GT’s lower-order finisher.

He impressed in his initial years, but in the last couple of years, Khan has struggled. For this game, he will get another opportunity due to the lack of better alternatives. But Shah Rakh has to make this count and justify his place in the squad.

As for no. 6, Jason Holder will continue to play. He replaced Glenn Phillips mid-season and provided better balance as an all-rounder. Holder is also a finisher who can turn things around in the death.

Bowlers - Rashid Khan, Ashok Sharma, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada

In the spin department, Rashid Khan will lead the charge as usual for GT. This IPL 2026 season, he has picked up 8 wickets but has been inconsistent. Regardless, he will get support from Washington Sundar, who is GT’s secondary spin option.

As for the pace attack, Kagiso Rabada is GT’s highest wicket-taker of the IPL 2026 season at 13 wickets. Mohammed Siraj will back him with the new ball in the powerplay.

Interestingly, GT dropped Prasidh Krishna and Ashok Sharma for unknown reasons in their last game against CSK. Both pacers should make a comeback in this game as they strengthen the pace attack.

While Krishna has picked up 12 wickets so far, Ashok brings the pace advantage as he can consistently bowl at 150 kph. These four pacers could thrive on the Ahmedabad pitch which offers bounce and movement early in the game.
