Gujarat Titans (GT) pacer Kagiso Rabada was in full pace mode during their recent IPL 2026 game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 24, 2026. This game was played at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru.

The match saw Gujarat Titans being asked to bat first by RCB captain Rajat Patidar, who won the toss and chose to bowl. Sai Sudharsan played an amazing knock of 100 runs in 58 balls to shoulder the GT innings. He got some support from Jos Buttler (25), Jason Holder (23*), and Washington Sundar (19*) as Gujarat Titans posted 205/3 in 20 overs.

Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal rise to the occasion and lead RCB to win

Jacob Bethell was dismissed for 14 runs in his game for RCB in IPL 2026, as he replaced Phil Salt at the top. But RCB took the lead thanks to a 115-run partnership between Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal. Padikkal scored 55 and Virat Kohli hit 81 in 44 balls.

After RCB lost a number of wickets quickly, Krunal Pandya had to hit 23* in 12 balls to help RCB cross the finish line in 18.5 overs. RCB won the match by five wickets with a score of 206/5.
With five victories and two losses from seven IPL 2026 games, RCB currently holds the second spot in the points table with ten points.

Kagiso Rabada’s speedy over Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal

Titans’ South African pacer Kagiso Rabada showed some great speed in this game against Royal Challengers. Especially in the 4th over of the RCB chase, Rabada made both Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli dance to his tunes with severe pace.

Rabada clocked an overfull delivery over 150 kmph speed. He clocked 153 kmph, 151 kmph, 154 kmph, 152 kmph, 152 kmph, and 151 kmph. Though he bowled with searing pace, Kohli managed to hit a four on the first ball, and Padikkal smashed a brilliant six off Rabada on the third delivery of the over.

The South African pacer went for 14 runs in the 4th over for GT despite him bowling over 150 kmph with ease.

Fans attribute Kagiso Rabada’s speed to his smoking habit

A few days ago, Kagiso Rabada had landed in a controversy, following the social media virality of a video purportedly showing him smoking a cigarette. The video, which was allegedly shot at a secret location, also seems to include a number of other Gujarat Titans players and members of the support staff, though it was not possible to independently confirm their names.

Notably, the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport banned Rabada from cricket for one month in 2025 after he tested positive for recreational drugs. The bowler only returned to the Gujarat Titans team after serving out his suspension after being forced to leave the IPL 2025 midway through the season.

This led to fans making shocking claims on social media that the speed that Rabada generated in that particular over was due to this smoking habit of his.
