On Sunday, April 26, KKR and LSG faced each other at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, and the match turned out to be full of drama and controversy.
Not only did the game go into a thrilling Super Over, but there was also a heated moment involving Angkrish Raghuvanshi being given out for obstructing the field.
However, as the dust settled, another major mistake from the KKR vs LSG came into the spotlight.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi's controversial out
To begin with, one of the biggest talking points happened during KKR’s innings. On the final ball of the fifth over, Angkrish Raghuvanshi played a shot towards mid-on and tried to take a quick single. However, Cameron Green, who was at the non-striker’s end, immediately refused the run.
As a result, Angkrish Raghuvanshi had to stop midway, turn around, and rush back to his crease. While doing so, he dived in an attempt to make it safely. At the same time, the fielder picked up the ball and threw it towards the striker’s end. Unfortunately, the throw hit Angkrish Raghuvanshi during his dive.
Following this, Mohammed Shami appealed, and the on-field umpires decided to send the decision upstairs. After checking the replays, Raghuvanshi was given out for obstructing the field. However, former ICC umpire Anil Chaudhary later shared his view, suggesting that the batsman’s action did not appear to be intentional.
With that, attention gradually shifted away from this incident and moved toward what turned out to be the real controversy of the KKR vs LSG.
Controversial final over drama
The most debated moment, notably, came during the final over of the regular innings. Kartik Tyagi delivered a chest-high full toss to Himmat Singh, which was rightly called a no-ball. Immediately after, he bowled another full toss above waist height, and that delivery was also declared a no-ball.

According to the rules, a bowler should not be allowed to continue after bowling two such deliveries. Ball-tracking showed that the ball passed at 1.08 meters, while the batter’s waist height was 1.01 meters.
Therefore, Tyagi should have been taken off the attack. Surprisingly, he was allowed to continue bowling, and the KKR vs LSG eventually went into a Super Over, where KKR won.
Anil Chaudhary gives his verdict
It was later explained that the second delivery was not considered dangerous or intentional, which is why Tyagi was allowed to continue. However, umpire Anil Chaudhary disagreed with this decision.
“I feel initially there were some deliberations and the on-field umpires were about to change the bowler, but somehow after that, someone prompted them, maybe it was the TV umpire, that it was not dangerous,” Chaudhary said. “To me, I think he (Tyagi) should have been taken out because it was above waist. It was not allowed.”
He further added that even though the rules mention “dangerous” deliveries, in practice, bowlers are usually removed after a second waist-high no-ball. Therefore, he felt the officials made a mistake.
KKR beat LSG in super over thriller
Meanwhile, the match itself was equally intense. KKR had a very poor start and were struggling at 93/7 after 15 overs. However, Rinku Singh played an outstanding innings and changed the momentum. Rinku scored an unbeaten 83 runs from 51 balls, including four consecutive sixes in the final over. Because of his effort, KKR managed to post a total of 155/7.
On the other hand, LSG, while chasing 156, also faced difficulties. Their batting lineup collapsed under pressure. Still, they managed to stay in the game till the very end.
Notably, Mohammed Shami hit a six on the last ball of the innings against Kartik Tyagi, which helped LSG tie the match and push it into a Super Over.
Then, the KKR vs LSG match moved into a Super Over. Sunil Narine bowled brilliantly, giving away just one run and taking two wickets. As a result, KKR had an easy target to chase. Rinku Singh then finished the match in style by hitting a boundary on the very first ball.
