There seems to be a lot happening within the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) setup this IPL 2026 season, both on and off the field. From convincing wins to crushing defeats, from injury concerns to official complaints, the five-time champions have found themselves at the centre of some relentless speculations this season.

Earlier this month, the franchise lodged an official complaint to the BCCI against the RCB DJ who apparently played a provocative song at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Several social media outlets are now reporting that the franchise has now lodged another complaint, this time against the Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill for his ‘controversial social media’ post.

Here, we examine the viral claim and reveal whether CSK has actually filed a complaint or it is just another fabricated story making rounds on social media.

Did CSK file a complaint against Shubman Gill?

India’s cricketing social media circles are abuzz with reports claiming that the CSK franchise has filed an official complaint against Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill. The alleged complaint is reportedly linked to a social media post made by the elegant opening batter.

While Gill did share the post after Gujarat Titans thrashed the CSK, the losing franchise has not actually lodged any complaint, at least not as of now. The post itself appeared fairly harmless and did not contain anything overtly offensive or inflammatory that would warrant formal action.

It appears that several troll accounts initially circulated the complaint rumour as a joke, which was later picked up by other social media pages and presented as legitimate news.

What did Shubman Gill posted after win over CSK?

In match number 37 of the IPL 2026 season as played out at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, April 26; the Gujarat Titans franchise secured a comprehensive win over the hosts.

Chasing 159 for a win after Kagiso Rabada’s tight three-wicket haul, Titans opener Sai Sudharsan compiled 87 off 46 balls, and captain Shubman Gill himself listed 33 off 23 at the top. Jos Buttler (39* off 30) notched up the winning runs for the Titans with eight wickets and 20 balls to spare.

After the match, winning skipper Gill trolled the CSK franchise with a hilarious social media post on Instagram. Sharing a picture of himself (likely AI generated), the cricketer can be seen smilingly holding a yellow whistle in his hand.

The post was interpreted by some fans as a playful dig at CSK’s iconic yellow jersey and the franchise’s long-standing “whistle podu” slogan, which is likely why a section of social media users tried to portray it as offensive.

When CSK complained about RCB’s DJ in IPL 2026

While the complaint against Shubman Gill turned out to be fake news, the CSK franchise did file an official complain against the RCB DJ earlier this month. Several reports claimed that the BCCI even took up the matter with the RCB officials.

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan claimed that the franchise made the complain over the controversial remarks used by the RCB DJ at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in match number 11 of the IPL 2026 season.
