Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won an enthralling contest against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday night at the Wankhede Stadium, thanks to the surreal hitting from Rajat Patidar, Phil Salt and Virat Kohli.

After losing to the Rajasthan Royals, RCB came out all guns blazing against the five-time champions in their backyard. As the reigning champions won after posting 240/4 on the board, Salt, Patidar and Tim David were deemed as the heroes for their gung-ho batting, but Virat Kohli was criticised for his rather slow fifty.

However, it was understood that the former RCB captain had a high fever on the eve of the MI vs RCB match. Moreover, he sustained an ankle injury while batting in the first innings, which ruled him out of the field in the second innings.

Virat Kohli didn't come out to field in the second innings, a precautionary measure taken by the RCB management.

A video is circulating on the social media, where the legendary batter is signalling about his injury scare to his spouse, Anushka Sharma, who was in attendance for the MI vs RCB.

Kohli was seen gesturing to his head, which could be interpreted as meaning he wasn't in a good frame of mind. Although he had hit a 38-ball 50, the opener wasn't able to concentrate properly as he failed to execute glory shots on multiple occasions. Moreover, he reviewed twice for wides, and both times he was ruled against.

Later in the video, the 37-year-old pointed to his hamstring and ankle, indicating where he was struggling during his batting vs Mumbai

Virat Kohli goes through two weathers vs MI

Batting first, RCB openers went big as Phil Salt unleashed his Herculean batting show. He blasted 78 runs off 36 balls, and stitched a 120-run partnership with Virat Kohli, who played a perfect second fiddle to the Englishman.

The team management, then, sent Rajat Patidar in place of Devdutt Padikkal after Salt’s departure. Patidar, too, showed his hyper-aggressive self as he smashed a 17-ball fifty.

The two shared a 65-run stand, but it was evident that the former RCB captain was struggling to score. He was also limping while rotating the strike. As Kohli was dismissed in the 15th over, he was full of anger after getting out and he threw his helmet near the boundary cushion.

Although skipper Rajat Patidar issued a statement on the status of Virat Kohli's injury in the post-match presentation.

"I don't know yet, but I think he (Virat Kohli), I feel that he's okay right now," Rajat Patidar had said at the post-match presentation.

Krunal Pandya denies MI win despite Rutherford's 71*

After posting 240/4, RCB bowlers didn't have it easy against the Mumbai batters. Although Rohit Sharma couldn't bat after a hamstring injury, the rest gave Bengaluru a tough fight despite losing wickets in regular intervals.

Krunal Pandya, with his 1 for 26 in the middle overs, turned the game in RCB’s favour. The left-arm spinner’s impact was so high that Sherfane Rutherford’s 31-ball 71* could take MI home, losing by 18 runs.

After losing three games in a row, MI will face the Punjab Kings at home on Thursday. Whereas RCB’s next match is against LSG in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
