The excitement around the IPL 2026 continues to grow as the tournament completes two weeks of action. While fans and players are enjoying thrilling matches, attention has now shifted to where the IPL 2026 playoffs and final will be held.

Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released the tournament schedule in two phases. This was done to avoid clashes with assembly elections in states like West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Assam.

The first phase included the opening matches so that the league could begin on time, while the remaining fixtures were confirmed later after polling dates were finalised.

Bengaluru faces competition as BCCI nears IPL 2026 final venue decision

The BCCI has now shortlisted two cities, Bengaluru and New Chandigarh, but has not yet made a final announcement regarding the venues for the final and the playoffs.

According to reports by India Today, Bengaluru is a strong contender, especially since defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru could host the final at their home ground. However, New Chandigarh is also in the race.

The final venue for IPL 2026 will be finalised after multiple factors are evaluated, leading to a final decision. Traditionally, the IPL final has been hosted at the home stadium of the previous season's winners (for IPL 2026, it’s RCB).

But officials are also considering logistics, team travel, security arrangements, and broadcasting requirements before confirming the location.

The Rajasthan Royals sit at the top of the IPL 2026 points table and remain unbeaten so far. The Punjab Kings also share an unbeaten record, but their one match against the Kolkata Knight Riders was abandoned due to rain.

RCB have had a decent start to the season. They began strongly with a win against the Sunrisers Hyderabad by 6 wickets, followed by a convincing 43-run victory against the Chennai Super Kings.

However, they slipped against the Rajasthan Royals, losing by 6 wickets, before bouncing back with an 18-run win over the Mumbai Indians.

On the other hand, the Kolkata Knight Riders are struggling at the bottom of the table without a win, while the Chennai Super Kings sit in 9th place despite finally registering a win against the Delhi Capitals after a poor start.
