A couple of days ago, Rilee Rossouw called the PSL better than IPL, which fueled on social media when the Quetta Gladiators batter referred to the Indian Premier League as a "movie". That comment from the South African cricketer has divided the internet in two. 

The Pakistani fans are enjoying Rossouw, while it has angered the IPL loyalists in India. When asked about the same by Islamabad United's assistant coach, Jacob Oram, he defended PSL's Indian counterpart. 

However, when a journalist asked Oram about the Rossouw's "movie" comment, he gave an elaborate statement, but only after laughing.  

Jacob Oram prefers IPL over PSL, laughs on Rossouw's movie comment

Jacob Oram, serving as Islamabad's assistant coach, offered a solid take on the IPL vs PSL debate after Rilee Rossouw's movie comment. 

"They are similar tournaments, but they are both very different. IPL is twice the long as PSL, but I haven't coached in the IPL; I have played there. It was a very long time ago, and it has grown into a bit of a behemoth, the former New Zealand all-rounder opined.

Although the Islamabad United coach preferred the IPL, he cracked in splits after hearing about the comment made by the Rossouw.

Further, Oram spoke at length about about the PSL and his maiden stint as a coach there. 

"This is my first opportunity in the PSL and I'm loving it. The group - from staff to players - have been so welcoming. We are well looked after, well catered for... so far, so good here. Loving it, Oram said while appreciating the league. "I'd love to have crowds here... for that vibe and atmosphere," he added. 

What did Rilee Rossouw say on IPL vs PSL?

A couple of days ago, Rilee Rossouw had put the PSL on the pedestal in comparison to the IPL.

The South African swashbuckler, who has been playing in the Pakistani league since 2016, called it "compact with a more competitive cricket". Furthermore, he referred to the Indian extravaganza as a "movie than actual cricket"

“IPL is a very long tournament, and PSL is a much more compact tournament where the competition is a lot more fierce. IPL obviously has the whole Bollywood backing it, so it's a lot more of a movie than actual cricket,” Rossouw had stated in the PSL 2026.

Did Jacob Oram play in the IPL?

Jacob Oram, a decorative all-rounder of his time, played regularly for New Zealand from 2005-2012, though he debuted at the international level in 2002. He was a tall, lanky cricketer who contributed decently with both bat and ball during the ODI World Cups in 2003, 2007 and 2011. 

Oram featured in 33 Tests, 160 ODIs and 36 T20Is, scoring 4,688 runs and claiming 252 wickets across all formats. The handy cricketer played in the IPL till 2013, representing CSK, RR and MI. 

The handy cricketer was a part of the Mumbai Indians squad that won its maiden IPL title in 2013, but he could only feature in a solitary game that season.
