In the much-awaited IPL 2026 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, Virat Kohli faced heavy criticism for his scratchy knock. For the unversed, RCB, batting first, put 240/4 on the board. However, the 37-year-old scored a 50 off 37 balls.

Unlike Rajat Patidar and Phil Salt, Virat Kohli failed to get going. The India veteran was himself not happy with his knock and slammed his helmet in anger on his way to the pavillion.

Ravi Shastri Reveals Reason Behind Virat Kohli’s Slow Knock

Amid the criticism, former India head coach and presenter Ravi Shastri revealed that Virat Kohli has some health issues before the start of the game, which hampered his stroke-play and strike-rate.

“Virat Kohli is not in the best of health lately,” remarked Ravi Shastri on air during the MI vs RCB match.

Ravi Shastri’s comments quickly spread like fire on the internet. Meanwhile, the fans were worried about the nature of his illness. The 61-year-old has spend a lot of time with Virat Kohli and maintains a great relationship with the India legend.

Therefore, it is expected that Virat Kohli must have shared his health update to Ravi Shastri before the start of the match.

Virat Kohli Do Not Take Field In 2nd Innings vs MI

Besides Ravi Shastri, a report from Cricbuzz stated that Virat Kohli has been struggling with an ankle issue. Notably, they reported an ankle twist, due to which the 37-year-old didn’t even take the field in the second innings.

Virat Kohli is not someone who skips the field. However, in the second innings against MI, Virat was spotted sitting in the dug-out. Meanwhile, Jacob Bethell came in as an injury replacement. At present, there is no update on Virat’s exact nature of injury, but the fans are worried whether he will be fit in time for the upcoming fixture.

Notably, RCB will next host Lucknow Super Giants at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday, April 15. The fans cannot afford to miss Virat Kohli in an IPL fixture.

After Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma also suffered an injury in the same match

The disappointment for Ro-Ko fans doubled when Rohit Sharma too suffered an injury in the same match. Notably, Rohit Sharma was batting well and scored 19 (13), before walking out of the ground with a hamstring injury.

Rohit had issues with his hamstring last season as well, and things do not look nice for him this time around. It is to be seen whether the hitman will return to bat later in the match.
