The Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) has issued legal notices to active Indian cricketers Tilak Varma and Mohammed Siraj, as well as to former national batter Ambati Rayudu. The association also issued legal notices to actors Vijay Deverakonda and Venkatesh.

The aforementioned five personalities have been reprimanded owing to their alleged association with the proposed TG20 League. The TCA claims that the planned T20 tournament does not have the approval from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

According to the legal notice, the TCA is alleging that the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) is conducting business with corporations without the proper and legal authorisation of the BCCI.

The TCA also alleged that promoting proposed tournaments like the TG20 League without official BCCI approval leads to an offence.

The association continues to raise concerns over the regulatory status of the league and the potential impact of the endorsements from celebrities, like actors Vijay Deverakonda and Venkatesh.

Neither of the two actors has publicly responded to the legal notice, considering they are occupied with major film projects at the moment.

Tilak Varma set to tour Ireland

Much like the two actors, Indian cricketers Tilak Varma and Mohammed Siraj are also yet to respond to the legal notices issued against them by the TCA.

Both Varma and Siraj were scheduled to tour Ireland later this month for the upcoming two-match T20I series. However, Siraj was rested for the UK tour, with BCCI replacing him with Prasidh Krishna.

Meanwhile, Tilak was recently named Team India’s T20I vice-captain, replacing Axar Patel in the process after the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup win.

The dynamic Hyderabad batter is currently in Sri Lanka as part of the India A team for the tri-nation A series.

Leading the India A side, the left-handed batter has listed three half-centuries in the series, and has steered his team into the final, where they will either face Sri Lanka A or Afghanistan A on June 21.

A day after the final, Tilak Varma will reportedly reach Chennai to join the rest of the Indian national squad as they will fly together to Belfast for the T20I series in Ireland between June 26 and June 28.

Tilak Varma’s troublesome phase continues

Just a couple of days before getting a legal notice by the TCA, Indian batter Tilak Varma was also involved in a fiery altercation with the umpires during India A’s match against Sri Lanka A in Dambulla.

Following the thrilling tied verdict between the two sides, the Indian skipper argued with the umpires to carry on with the Super Over, even though the umpires seemed reluctant owing to bad light at the venue.

The decision backfired on the Indian A team, as Sri Lanka A won the Super Over, with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi failing to notch up the winning runs. Captain Varma was subsequently criticised for his behaviour with the match officials.
