Desperate times clearly call for desperate measures. Yet, even by cricket’s standards, a certain Hasan Ali incident raised quite a few eyebrows.
During the final moments of the Division One County Championship 2026 thriller between Yorkshire and Warwickshire earlier this week, the Pakistani fast bowler raised both his arms during his run-up in a bid to distract the opposition’s tailender.
While Hasan’s antics ended up making no difference since Warwickshire number 10 Keith Barker merely opted out of the crease, the speedster’s Yorkshire teammates saw the funny side in a moment clearly marred by desperation and an urge to win.
Regardless, not all cricket fans found the incident amusing, as several of them took to X to chastise the 32-year-old for his weird bowling antics.

Warwickshire wrest out a draw despite Hasan Ali’s late fightback
Warwickshire required 453 runs for a win from the remaining 111 overs of their four-day County Championship Division One 2026 bout against the Yorkshire at the North Marine Road Ground in Scarborough.
Opting to bat out for a draw, Warwickshire lost well-set Indian import Manav Suthar in the final over of the match to Hasan Ali to slip to 333-8. With four balls remaining, the Pakistani speedster attempted to distract newcomer Keith Barker, but the Warwickshire held on to a thrilling draw.
Hasan Ali in action for Yorkshire after Bangladesh series defeat
The Pakistani fast bowler was part of the national side that recently suffered a demoralizing 0-2 Test series defeat to Bangladesh last month. The speedster is currently in England as part of the Yorkshire team in their 2026 domestic season.
In five Vitality T20 Blast games for the Yorkshire cricket club this season, Hasan collected 11 wickets at an impressive bowling average of 10.36. It included a fighting four-wicket haul against Leicestershire in Leicester earlier this month.
In the County Championship match against Warwickshire this week, the 32-year-old snared five wickets across both innings in Scarborough.
His recent bowling heroics certainly makes him a favorite to find a place in the Pakistan national squad for the upcoming tours of West Indies and England.
