In a significant development, Shaun Tait gave up his role as Bangladesh bowling coach. The Australian pace sensation, who joined Bangladesh’s coaching staff in May 2025, decided not to continue any further.

Earlier, while joining Bangladesh, Tait mentioned he would like to continue till November 2027. That meant he wanted to see how Bangladesh's attack would perform in the ODI World Cup 2027. However, it will not happen in reality with Tait’s resignation.

Shaun Tait Quits Bangladesh's Coach's Role

Earlier, it was reported that Tait might leave Bangladesh's coaching responsibility. While confirming the news to ESPNCricinfo, Shaun Tait confirmed that he wanted to prioritise family, and hence, he had to leave Bangladesh’s bowling coach role.

However, at the same time, he highlighted how the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) happens, and there is a chance that he might return to the country for a short stint if opportunities arrive.

"My 12 months with the BCB and the Bangladesh national team was fulfilling," Tait said to ESPNcricinfo. "I want to thank the BCB. I really enjoyed working with the players. I have a great relationship with the fast bowling group. They were good to work with and I created some really good relationships in Bangladesh, around the cricketing community in general.

"I don't think that'll be the closed door on my time in the country. There's obviously BPL and what not. You never know what the future holds. But for the time being, my young family need a bit more of my time. So, the full-time role of year-round red and white-ball cricket, my 12 months was enough and it's time to just step back and give my family a little bit more time."

A Look At Shaun Tait's Coaching Career

Known for his express pace, Tait was once the head coach of BPL’s franchise Chittagong Kings. After that, he served as the bowling coach for different franchises in Big Bash League (BBL), Pakistan Super League (PSL), and Lanka Premier League (LPL).

Talking about international assignments, Tait was associated with the West Indies and Pakistan before joining Bangladesh.

How Was Shaun Tait As Bowler?

Tait, aged 43 now, was one of the most fearsome pacers around during his cricketing days. He took 62 wickets in 35 ODIs, averaging 23.56 while having an economy rate of 5.19.

He had 28 wickets in 21 T20Is at a good economy rate of under seven and a half runs per over. Unfortunately, due to frequent injury concerns, very similar to what happened with Shane Bond, Tait’s cricketing days did not last long.

Coming to IPL, Tait was associated with two teams during his playing days. He was with Rajasthan Royals (RR) between 2010 and 2013, and was with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2016. Important to mention, Tait did not play a single match with KKR.
