The International Cricket Council (ICC), led by Jay Shah, has sent a two-member delegation to Bangladesh. The delegation comprises ICC Board Directors, Cricket South Africa’s Mohammed A.S. Moosajee and Zimbabwe Cricket’s Tavengwa Mukuhlani.
Both Moosajee and Mukuhlani visited Bangladesh to engage with a range of stakeholders to review developments linked to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). It is worth noting that not long ago, former captain Tamim Iqbal was named as the new president of the BCB after Aminul Islam Bulbul was axed from his role.
ICC delegation visits Bangladesh to review board
As per an ICC media release, a two-member ICC delegation has visited Bangladesh to engage with stakeholders on governance and electoral matters linked to the BCB.
The ICC also confirmed that any findings from the delegation will not be made available to the media, and any media report regarding the trip will only be speculative.

One can assume that the ICC delegation visited Bangladesh to check if there are any irregularities within the BCB.
The BCB has already undergone a major revamp this year, following Bangladesh’s controversial exit from the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
The exit stemmed from the BCB’s fallout with the ICC and the BCCI, mere weeks prior to the launch of the tournament owing to Mustafizur Rahman’s forced ouster from the IPL 2026 season.
ICC delegation likely visited Bangladesh to review BCB before Asia Cup
There is a strong possibility that the ICC delegation visited Bangladesh to review the revamped Tamim Iqbal-led BCB for any form of irregularities.
Notably, Bangladesh is scheduled to host the 2027 ACC Men’s ODI Asia Cup next year, which constitutes a part of ODI World Cup 2027 training for all five Test-playing Asian countries.
One can expect that if the ICC delegation finds any mismanagement or government interference within the BCB, such findings might well jeopardise Bangladesh’s hosting rights of the multi-nation continental event.
BCB joins SLC in ICC hit list
Only last month, a high-level ICC delegation also visited Sri Lanka following the government’s appointment of an interim committee to run Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). The delegation consisted of ICC deputy chairman Imran Khwaja and another top BCCI official.
Much like how the ICC delegation attended Bangladesh mere months after the appointment of Tamim Iqbal as new BCB president, the delegation also visited Sri Lanka just a few days after the Sri Lankan government forced major changes within the SLC.
As part of the changes, a nine-member committee was appointed to run SLC, which includes former cricketers like Kumar Sangakkara, Roshan Mahanama and Sidath Wettimuny. The remaining members of the committee hail either from corporate, legal or political backgrounds.
Eran Wickramaratne, who is also a former Member of the Sri Lankan Parliament, was appointed as SLC Chairman. One of the primary tasks of the new SLC committee is to ensure a “total overhaul of the governance framework” within the board.
