In a heartbreaking moment, legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar broke down in tears at the last rites of late singing legend Asha Bhosle. Tendulkar’s overwhelming moment was caught on camera.

Meanwhile, Asha Bhosle’s funeral was held on April 13 at her residence in Lower Parel. Among those who arrived to pay tribute was legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.

Accompanied by his wife Anjali Tendulkar, he was visibly overwhelmed, struggling to hold back tears while consoling the bereaved family. While talking to Bhosle’s family, Sachin Tendulkar couldn’t hold it together and broke down in tears.

Earlier, Sachin Tendulkar paid tribute to Asha Bhosle on social media, saying she was more than a musical legend. He often spoke about growing up listening to her songs, calling her "family".

That being said, Asha Bhosle’s final rites, scheduled at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park with full state honours, will be attended by prominent figures from politics, cinema, and sports.

IPL mourned the death of Asha Bhosle

Meanwhile, on April 12, the Mumbai Indians faced RCB at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Before the game, both teams and officials paid tribute to Asha Bhosle after her passing.

Moments before the first ball was bowled, everyone in the stadium stood quietly for a few seconds. This is a common way to show respect and remember someone who has passed away.

Mumbai Indians players even wore black bands on their arms. In sports, this is a traditional symbol of mourning and respect.

Asha Bhosle wasn’t just a singer. She was one of India’s greatest cultural figures. Her songs shaped generations, so her death is seen as a national loss, not just a film industry loss.

Asha Bhosle’s extraordinary journey

Born in 1933, Asha Bhosle lived one of the most extraordinary and resilient lives in Indian cultural history. However, her childhood was far from easy.

After her father’s death, the family faced financial hardship, forcing Asha and her elder sister Lata Mangeshkar to start working early to support the family. She began singing at just 10 and entered Bollywood in the 1940s.

Bhosel’s breakthrough came in the 1950s, and by the 1970s, she was one of Bollywood’s most versatile and in-demand singers.

Her career spanned over 8 decades, during which she recorded over 11,000-12,000 songs in multiple languages, making her one of the most recorded artists in history.

Bhosle was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Padma Vibhushan and a Guinness World Record for most recordings.
