There are not many moments which occur outside the field that can make the entire cricketing fraternity pause and come together. The passing of Indian playback singer Asha Bhosle, however, proved to be one such moment as the dreadful occasion sparked a wave of heartfelt tributes from several Indian former and active cricketers alike.
The former Bollywood singer, who has previously collaborated with champion Australian fast bowler Brett Lee for a song, was widely revered for her elite discography, particularly in the subcontinent.

Cricketers pay respects to Asha Bhosle
Veteran Indian singer Asha Bhosle passed away on April 12 in Mumbai at the age of 92, following a cardiac earlier in the day. Her son, Anand Bhosle, confirmed the news, with doctors stating a multi-organ failure as the cause of her death at the Breach Candy Hospital.
Her passing sparked a wave of some emotional tributes from across the nation and beyond. Even several Indian cricketers took to their respective social media accounts and paid their respects to the legendary Indian playback singer.

Apart from Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar, Indiaâs multi-World Cup winning all-rounder Yuvraj Singh also shared his deepest condolences, and claimed that there was always an Asha Bhosle song that would fit his mood.

When Asha Bhosle collaborated with Brett Lee
Back in 2006, Asha Bhosle collaborated with legendary Australian fast bowler and then cricketer Brett Lee. The duo performed for a song âYouâre the one for meâ from the hit music album Asha and Friends, Vol. 1.
The lyrics of the song were reportedly written by Lee in just 30 minutes between practice sessions during his time in India for the 2006 ICC Champions Trophy. The single went on to debut at number four on the music charts and reached a peak position of number two at one stage.
Asha Bhosleâs connection with Sachin Tendulkar
Back in 2002, Asha Bhosle also composed music for an eight-song music and video album âAap ki Ashaâ. The lyrics of the entire album were written by legendary poet and lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri.
It is worth noting that the album was first released by none other than Indian cricket icon and all-time great Sachin Tendulkar. The then Indian cricketer released the album on May 21, 2001 at a lavish party in his hometown, Mumbai.
