The PCB on Sunday made a major announcement regarding the PSL 2026, which has been hit by multiple withdrawals lately. PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi stepped up to make it public, leaving PSL fans in complete shock.
The major development regarding the PSL 2026 that Naqvi made official was that it will be behind closed doors, courtesy of the fuel crisis in Pakistan. Moreover, the entire PSL 2026 will be played at only two venues: Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium and Karachi’s National Stadium.
Earlier, it was announced that the upcoming edition of Pakistan’s elite T20 league will be played across six venues: Multan, Peshawar, Faisalabad, Karachi, Rawalpindi and Lahore.
To make matters even worse, the PSL opening ceremony has been cancelled as well.
PSL 2026 Hit Hard With Major Setback
Amidst all the setbacks, Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that the PSL 2026 will happen as per schedule. The PCB chairman confirmed that all the decisions were taken after an important meeting with all PSL franchise owners and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
“If we had postponed the PSL, there would be no window later to hold it. We have prepared a new schedule that minimises team movements,” Naqvi said during the press conference.

Furthermore, Naqvi revealed that the discussion regarding all the developments around PSL 11 was in place for some time.
“Consultations regarding the PSL had been ongoing for several days,” Naqvi added.
“We don’t know how long the current situation will persist, but hosting the PSL is essential. It is an international brand, and foreign players are involved. Everyone is eager for the PSL to go ahead.”
PCB Confirms PSL Ticket Refund Policy
Moreover, Mohsin Naqvi announced that all the fans who purchased PSL tickets for different franchises will get the refunds. There have been some logistical changes as well among support staff for PSL 2026.
“Fans will be able to receive refunds for tickets, and we apologise to them for the inconvenience,” Naqvi confirmed. "Full-time PCB staff will not be able to attend the PSL, but part-time staff will be able to work with the teams.”
PSL Schedule & Format
PSL 2026 will feature 10 teams competing, with each team scheduled to play 10 matches during the league stage for the first time. The final will take place at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on May 3, and more importantly, there is a Reserve Day (May 4) for the finale if the original date gets washed out.
To get 10 matches during the PSL league stage, each team will play three teams twice, and there will be four single-headers. As the initial PSL schedule remains the same, there will be six days when doubleheaders will happen.
So the period for upcoming edition of the PSL will stay intact, between March 26 and May 3, if not May 4.
