The PSL 2026 season has reportedly received a kick-off date as well as a list of venues. As per the recent update, the opening match of the upcoming 11th edition of the tournament will be played between Lahore Qalandars and Hyderabad Kingsmen on March 26 later this month.
It is worth noting that the impending PSL 2026 season is set to usher in a new chapter for the league, highlighted by the introduction of two new franchises and the rebranding of the Multan Sultans. Furthermore, this edition will mark the first time in PSL history that the tournament follows an auction-based player acquisition model.
PSL 2026 gets a start date, trophy to be unveiled in Karachi
As per recent reports circulating among several Pakistani outlets and journalists, the PSL 2026 season will launch with a match between Lahore Qalandars and Hyderabad Kingsmen on March 26. The match will be hosted by the iconic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The Lahore-based venue will also host the eliminator and the second qualifier of the tournament on May 3 and May 5 respectively.
As per a tentative schedule, the final match of the PSL 2026 season will also be played in Lahore, albeit in early May. Apart from Lahore, the upcoming PSL event will be hosted by five additional venues, namely Karachi, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad and Peshawar. The Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi has been allotted to host the first qualifier of the tournament.

The report also states that an official trophy unveiling will be organised by the PCB at some stage this month in Karachi. There will be an additional trade and transfer window for all franchises for a period of one week.
The PCB will also be releasing an official anthem for the season and the occasion will coincide with the festival of Eid.
PSL expands with 44 matches this year
The PSL 2026 season will also see an expansion with 44 matches, as opposed to the 34 matches played between six competitors up until last year. With the introduction of two additional franchises, Hyderabad Kingsmen and Sialkot Stallionz, all teams will be divided into two groups of four each.
The format will be replacing the single-group double round-robin format as used in the preceding editions of the tournament. Each team will play twice against a team from its own group, and just once against a team from the other group, thus resulting in every team playing 10 league matches before the knockout stage.
PSL 2026 to collide with IPL 2026
Much like PSL 2025 last year, the upcoming 2026 event will also largely run in tandem with the rebel IPL 2026 season in India. While the PCB adjusted last year’s scheduling owing to the hosting rights of the ICC Champions Trophy, the impending season will start in late-March owing to the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
With the Pakistan team failing to go beyond the Super 8 stage, several ‘Men in Green’ players will now tour Bangladesh for a short white-ball series. The series will subsequently be followed by the T20 carnival back home.
