In a significant move, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has allowed its national players to take part in overseas franchise tournaments by granting them No Objection Certificates (NOCs).

As part of this decision, star left-arm quick Mustafizur Rahman has received an NOC to play the full 2026 season of The Hundred in England. At the same time, Parvez Hossain Emon has also been given permission to participate in the Global Super League (GSL).

BCB Grants NOC To Mustafizur Rahman

According to BCB officials, Mustafizur has been granted an NOC from July 20 to August 20, which means he will be available for almost the entire tournament.

The Hundred is scheduled to begin on July 21, and the board confirmed that he has been given permission for one month.

"We have granted him NOC for one month for The Hundred," a BCB official said.

Mustafizur Rahman Signed By Birmingham Phoenix

Earlier this year, Mustafizur Rahman created history by becoming the 1st Bangladesh cricketer to be selected in The Hundred draft. During the draft held in London, Birmingham Phoenix signed him for £100,000, which is worth more than 16.4 Million Bangladeshi taka.

Interestingly, Mustafizur will also get an opportunity to play against teams linked to IPL franchise owners during The Hundred 2026.

It is important to note that four teams in the tournament are owned by companies that also have stakes in IPL franchises, while the remaining four are backed by American investors.

Mustafizur Rahman Gets The Chance To Face IPL-Linked Franchises

Although Birmingham Phoenix is co-owned by Warwickshire County Cricket Club, Knighthead Capital Management, and Real Madrid football star Jude Bellingham, several rival teams are connected with IPL ownership groups.

Since investors took operational control in October 2025, a number of franchises have undergone major changes.

Notably, Oval Invincibles are now called MI London, Manchester Originals have become Manchester Super Giants, and Northern Superchargers have been renamed Sunrisers Leeds. It is also importan to note that Southern Brave have retained their original name despite being partly owned by the GMR Group, which also co-owns IPL franchise Delhi Capitals, in partnership with Hampshire.

Meanwhile, Mustafizur will be surrounded by several well-known international players at Birmingham Phoenix. He is set to share the dressing room with England's young star Jacob Bethell and Chris Wood, Pakistan's Usman Tariq and South Africa's Donovan Ferreira.

Mustafizur Rahman Gets A Big Chance To Earn An IPL Return

Most importantly, The Hundred 2026 could become the perfect platform for Mustafizur to prove himself once again and attract the attention of IPL franchises ahead of the 2027 season. Notably, strong performances in England could serve as an audition for teams looking for an experienced left-arm fast bowler.

Earlier, in January 2026, Mustafizur Rahman was released by KKR after the BCCI asked the franchise to let him go due to "developments all around."

Interestingly, KKR had signed him for Rs 9.20 crore after a competitive bidding battle during the IPL auction.

Now, with another major franchise tournament ahead of him, Mustafizur has a golden opportunity to remind IPL teams of his quality and strengthen his chances of making a successful return in 2027.
