The first-ever Hundred auction is underway, grabbing global attention for its historic arrival. Held at Piccadilly Lights in central London, the Hundred 2026 auction marks a significant milestone in the history of the 100-ball tournament, which is set to begin on July 21, 2026.

It is worth noting that in the previous editions of The Hundred, the eight men’s and women’s franchises conducted drafts to develop their squads, but this year, the competition is switching to an IPL-like auction system.

With the players listed one by one to the eight franchises, the highest bidder signs them. Moreover, the players are grouped into three tiers (Hero, ranked, and nominated) based on franchise interest. Hero players go first in the bidding, followed by Ranked and then Nominated.

Notably, ahead of the 2026 auction, all eight franchises in The Hundred have sold ownership stakes ahead of the sixth season of the competition.

4 franchises under Indian ownership: The Hundred Team Owners

In the Hundred 2026, four teams are owned by companies with stakes in Indian Premier League (IPL) sides, while the other four are supported by American investment.

Investors took operational control from October 2025 and made a number of changes to their franchises, updating team names, logos, kits and players. Notably, Oval Invincibles have been renamed MI London, Manchester Originals have been renamed Manchester Super Giants, and Northern Superchargers have been renamed Sunrisers Leeds.

Below is the list of all The Hundred Team Owners:

  1. Birmingham Phoenix: Part-owned by an American investment group, Knighthead Capital Management (owner of Birmingham City). The investment group acquired a 49% stake, while Warwickshire retained 51% ownership.
  2. London Spirit: Another partly America-based ownership. The Tech Titans owns 49%, while the Marylebone Cricket Club own the majority stake.
  3. Manchester Super Giants: Indian company RPSG Group purchased 70% of the shares, while Lancashire own the other 30%.
  4. Sunrisers Leeds: Entirely sold to the Sun Group, the firm behind IPL side Sunrisers Hyderabad and Sunrisers Eastern Cape in South Africa.
  5. MI London: While Surrey holds the majority, Reliance Industries Limited, owned by the multi-billionaire Ambani family, now owns 49% of the shares, adding another team to their MI family.
  6. Southern Brave: Partly owned by the GMR Group, who also own IPL outfit Delhi Capitals, in partnership with Hampshire.
  7. Trent Rockets: The owners of Chelsea and Nottinghamshire share ownership of this The Hundred franchise.
  8. Welsh Fire: 50% of the stakes were sold to Indian-American businessman Sanjay Goval, with Glamorgan owning the other half.

The Hundred Team owners ignore Pakistan players in the 2026 Auction

At the time of writing, star Pakistan players, including Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf, have been neglected by The Hundred team owners and went unsold. However, they can be up for grabs once more, later in the day.

Notably, one of the top performers for Pakistan in the recently held T20 World Cup 2026, Usman Tariq, became the first Pakistan cricketer to be sold during the The Hundred 2026 auction. The spinner was bought by Birmingham Phoenix for £140,000.
