The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) trumped defending champions RCB in match number 50 of the IPL 2026 season at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. A must-win match for the hosts on Thursday, May 7; Rishabh Pant and co. conjured a polished all-round spectacle to remain in contention for the season's playoffs race.
Still staring at a daunting road to keep their ambitions alive, here is a look at LSG’s entire scenario for making it among the top four sides of the tournament by the end of the league stage.
How can LSG qualify for IPL 2026 playoffs?
The LSG franchise, under the leadership of Rishabh Pant, has registered three wins and seven defeats from their 10 matches of the IPL 2026 season so far. Notably, the franchise procured six of those defeats in succession before their win over defending champions RCB snapped that dreadful streak.
The positive outcome against the RCB means that the LSG franchise can still mathematically qualify for the playoffs, but cannot afford even a minor hiccup from this point onward.
For starters, LSG need to win each of its remaining four games, and with emphatic margins. The win margins should be big enough to improve LSG’s dismal current NRR of -0.934, which is already one of the worst among all sides this season.
Even by winning all their remaining matches, the LSG franchise can reach a maximum of 14 points by the end of the league stage. While getting to 16 points pretty much guarantees a spot in the playoffs, there has been only one instance of a team finishing fourth on the table with 14 points ever since IPL became a 74-match event in 2022.
RCB did so, back in IPL 2024 by pipping out other franchises by holding a superior NRR.
What are LSG’s remaining games of IPL 2026?
As per the IPL 2026 schedule, the LSG franchise only has four league matches remaining this tournament. Rishabh Pant and co. will be playing two of those matches at their home ground, the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Here is a look at LSG’s remaining schedule of the tournament.

LSG’s top-performers of IPL 2026 so far
Mitchell Marsh has emerged as the most successful batter of the LSG franchise this IPL 2026 season by a landslide. The senior opener has aggregated 367 runs in 10 innings of the tournament at a splendid average of 36.70 and with an expressive strike rate of 152.91.
He even punched out an electrifying century against the RCB in LSG’s latest must-win match at home. Despite his heroics, Marsh is still ranked outside the top 10 highest run-makers of the season, placed at number 12.
Tearaway paceman Prince Yadav, meanwhile, continues to remain LSG’s best bowler of the season. The speedster has so far collected 16 wickets in just 10 innings, and is even placed third on the IPL 2026 Purple Cap race.
