In the recently concluded match between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants, the Rishabh Pant-led side suffered a massive blow as their star batter Josh Inglis walked off the field with injury. Notably, the Australia star picked up an injury in his first match of the season.

For the unversed, Josh Inglis missed the first eight matches for Lucknow Super Giants, something he had already communicated to the franchise. The 31-year-old took a break to get married and joined the side a few days ago.

Josh Inglis Walks Off The Field With Thumb Injury

Notably, on the last ball of the 16th over, Josh Inglis, who was standing at short cover, tried to take a low diving catch, but the ball hit his thumb. The Australia international was in pain and the physio rushed to attend him.

The doctor didn't waste any time and quickly took Inglis out of the ground. It felt like Inglis was bleeding and did something to his split webbing, forcing the physios to take him out of the field.

At the time of writing this article, the match is over and Mumbai Indians registered a comfortable six-wicket win. However, Inglis didn't come to the field and the extent of his injury is unknown.

Josh Inglis Fails To Impress On LSG Debut

As mentioned above, Josh Inglis was not available for majority of the tournament. He was brought into the playing XI as Lucknow Super Giants have been struggling in the ongoing season. However, the gamble didn't work as Inglis, who was asked to open the innings, failed to impress.

The right-handed batter got off to a brillint start with three fours but threw his wicket away and scored 13 (5). Now, LSG, who are placed 10th on the table, have a huge headache ahead of them whether to still open the innings with Josh Inglis or push him down the order. 

In case, the injury is serious, then they will have to look for replacements in the playing XI.

Who Can Replace Josh Inglis in the playing XI for LSG?

Lucknow Super Giants have already tried a lot of players at the top. In the recently concluded match against MI, they used four overseas options at the top and it didn't work out. Hence, to look for Josh Inglis' replacement, they can go for Indian option.
