A change in captaincy tonight brought a change in fortunes for Mumbai Indians as they finally gave their fans something to cheer about, registering just their third win of the season. From here, itβs a simple equation β win their remaining four games and hope other results go their way.
For LSG, itβs another setback β their seventh defeat of the season leaves them on the brink of elimination, with their campaign hanging by a thread.
A big clash awaits tomorrow as Delhi Capitals take on Chennai Super Kings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Akshay Bhide and Ninaad Dixit, along with scorers/analysts Paras Yadav and Manish Bishnoi, and our special statistician Ajay, who brought you all the updates from this game. Ryan Rickelton (Player of the Match): "(Opening partnership with Rohit) Yeah, he is one of Mumbai's greatest. One of India's greatest and I really enjoy spending time out there with him. We are fortunate that the wickets here at the Wankhede Stadium is really good. We back each other and help each other along the way when we bat together.
(How much does he love batting at this venue?) Yeah, many of my teammates were telling me that my game suits this ground. Coming from Johannesburg, you get a lot of pace and bounce similar to this. I didn't believe it but I have really enjoyed batting over here as the ball flies around the ground. I have kind of adapted my game around over here. Always looking to get better when we travel. I try to stay grounded at this venue.
(What was the chat with Rohit on the target of 228) It's absolutely ridiculous in the IPL with the way these totals are being chased down nowadays. I heard Surya saying that if you get a good start, it sets the platform. We might have not lived up to the expectations but the power we have from 3 to 7 is through the roof because of the batters, the class we have in the side. So, I know that if we can set a good platform, with the class we have in the middle order, it makes my role very clearer for me."

Suryakumar Yadav (Mumbai Indians Captain): "[LSG were 90/1 after 6 overs, what was the conversation during the Time Out?] We have been in these situations a lot before this season. So, nothing new to be honest. We knew if we could pick a couple of wickets, we could pull back things. The way all the bowlers responded, they showed great character.
[On the bowling performance] I think they were 120 or 130 something. I don't remember. From there, pulling it back and restricting them to that total was brilliant. All the bowlers had their plans. Just had to back them. The character they showed while bowling was commendable.
[What was the chat before coming out to bat?] Even we scored 240 before and Sunrisers scored. The way we started, Rickelton started brilliantly. Also, our own Rohit Sharma coming back and raring to go. The way he entertained the crowd was brilliant.
[On the opening partnership between Rohit and Rickelton] It's important to have a good start while chasing a big total. They did what was required for the team. Also, Naman Dhir and the rest of the guys did well in the end."
