Ayush Mhatre has now suffered yet another injury setback after already getting ruled out of the IPL 2026 season by the CSK franchise. Last month, the cricketer sustained a nasty hamstring injury during CSK’s away fixture against the SRH in Hyderabad on April 18.

The cricketer has now been diagnosed with a wrist injury, and will likely be out of action for two months. Mhatre’s latest injury setback means that the 18-year-old will likely miss out on the upcoming 2026 edition of the T20 Mumbai League.

After IPL 2026, Ayush Mhatre likely to miss T20 Mumbai League 2026

As reported by the Times of India, CSK top-order batter Ayush Mhatre has now suffered a wrist injury, doing so less than a month after coping a hamstring injury in the IPL 2026 season. While the cricketer has been already ruled out of the Indian T20 carnival by the CSK team management, the youngster might also miss the upcoming 2026 T20 Mumbai League.

A source tracking Mhatre’s recovery developments told TOI that “Ayush not only has a left hamstring injury, but has also been diagnosed with a wrist injury. He is now likely to be out of action for a couple of months.”

Since his latest injury is expected to keep him out of action for a couple of months, it remains a likely possibility that the 18-year-old will not be able to join Triumph Knights team in Mumbai for the 2026 T20 Mumbai League, scheduled to be played next month in June.

When CSK confirmed Mhatre’s injury and IPL 2026 exit

Ayush Mhatre played six matches for the CSK franchise in the ongoing IPL 2026 season. However, during the match against the SRH at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on April 18, the youngster sustained a left hamstring injury.

A couple of days later, he was ruled out of the remainder of the tournament, as confirmed by the CSK franchise on its social media accounts. In their official statement, the franchise wrote “Ayush’s injury will require a rehabilitation period of 6-12 weeks. We wish Ayush a speedy recovery.”

All in all, Mhatre scored 201 runs in his six batting appearances for the CSK this tournament at an average of 33.50 and with an explosive strike rate of 177.87.

How has CSK fared without MS Dhoni, Ayush Mhatre and others?

The CSK franchise has been marred with injury concerns to several of its key players, apart from young Ayush Mhatre. Former captain and legendary wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni is also yet to play a single game this IPL 2026 season so far for his franchise owing to his calf strain.

New ball paceman Khaleel Ahmed has also been ruled out of the tournament by the franchise owing to his own injury.

In the absence of several star attractions, the CSK franchise has so far procured just four wins and five defeats from nine matches to be placed in the bottom half of the IPL 2026 points table. They will now face the Delhi Capitals in their must-win game on May 5 in Delhi.
