The Women's T20 World Cup 2026 is just around the corner, set to kick off on June 12 with hosts England taking on Sri Lanka at Edgbaston, Birmingham. Ahead of the marquee event, the hosts have received positive news regarding their captain, Nat Sciver-Brunt.

The Three Lionesses played their recent two series, against India and New Zealand, under Charlie Dean’s leadership, with Sciver-Brunt nursing a left calf injury

The English Women's captain, who succeeded Heather Knight last year, tore her calf while playing in the 2026 ECB Women's One-Day Cup last month.

Interestingly, even without Sciver-Brunt, England Women were able to thrash both New Zealand Women and Indian Women in the bilateral series.

Charlotte Edwards confirms Nat Sciver-Brunt’s comeback date

After the conclusion of the T20Is vs India, England’s head coach Charlotte Edwards confirmed Nat Sciver-Brunt’s availability for the Women’s T20 World Cup opener against Sri Lanka.

"Nat (Sciver-Brunt)'s fine and ready to go. It's really good for us that she's coming back into the team and is hitting the ball well,'' Head Coach Charlotte Edwards told Sky Sports.

Head coach confirms Nat Sciver-Brunt’s batting spot

Nat Sciver-Brunt’s last tournament before injuring herself in England’s premier 50-over tournament was the WPL 2026, where she played at number 3 for the Mumbai Indians. There, she scored 321 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of 151.42.

Meanwhile, she has played any international format since the 2025 Women's Cricket World Cup in India.

While confirming the English skipper’s batting spot, Edwards revealed that she would bat one down in the Women’s T20 World Cup.

"She wants to bat at number three. She has done well in global franchises there, and that's where she wants to be. It's important she bats where she wants,” Charlotte Edwards added.

Although England Women’s official campaign would begin on June 12, the Three Lionesses will feature in two warm-up matches, against Australia Women and India Women on June 8 and June 10, respectively.

However, Sciver-Brunt’s availability for the 2026 T20 World Cup Warm-up has not yet been confirmed.
