Another major shake-up seems to be brewing within the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Mere days after four board directors resigned from their posts, current BCB president Aminul Islam Bulbul has also been booted out of the board.
Some reports are indicating that Aminul has been axed from the post owing to Bangladesh’s T20 World Cup 2026 fiasco with the BCCI and the ICC earlier this year. The BCB will now be helmed by Tamim Iqbal, who is set to become the youngest to lead Bangladesh cricket at the age of just 37.
BCCI enemy Aminul Islam axed from BCB
BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul has been axed from his role. Bangladesh’s T20 World Cup 2026 fiasco with India and the ICC is being considered as one of the primary reasons behind his exclusion. The decision was made following the recommendations of the five-member investigation committee that looked into the allegations of the BCB elections last year.

An ad hoc committee is now taking over Bangladesh cricket until fresh elections take place within the BCB. It is worth noting that the committee will be helmed by none other than former Bangladesh captain and legendary opening batter Tamim Iqbal.
The committee also includes another former Bangladesh captain Minhajul Abedin, Athar Ali Khan Rashna Imam, Mirza Yeasir Abbas, Syed Ibrahim Ahmed, Israfil Khasru, Tanjil Chowdhury, Salman Ispahani, Rafiqul Islam and Fahim Sinha.
Unlike Aminul Islam Bulbul, Tamim Iqbal has been perceived as maintaining relatively smoother ties with Indian cricket. For instance, the former cricketer urged the board to hold peace talks with the BCCI and the ICC over Bangladesh’s non-travel stance for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Aminul Islam’s tumultuous journey with Bangladesh cricket
It is worth noting that Aminul Islam was part of a controversial board election which came under scrutiny by an investigation committee of National Sports Council (NSC). During his tenure, as many as six board directors resigned from their posts in a short time, including four in a day earlier this month.
With Aminul Islam serving as BCB president, the board also took on India’s BCCI and the ICC after fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was barred from taking part in the IPL 2026 season. Citing “security concerns”, the BCB and the Bangladesh government refused to travel to India for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup.
The BCCI and the ICC refused Bangladesh’s demand, and replaced their national team with Scotland instead for the tournament.
Interestingly, shortly after a fresh wave of mass resignations hit Bangladesh cricket a few days ago, Aminul Islam confidently stated that he “will be the last person to leave the BCB”.
Tamim Iqbal to become youngest BCB president
Former Bangladesh cricketer Tamim Iqbal is now the youngest ever to take the BCB President chair, doing so at the age of just 37. The elegant left-handed opening batter also holds one of the most decorated playing careers in Bangladesh cricket.
The cricketer aggregated more than 15,000 international runs during his playing days, and formed a crucial part of the team that defeated India and advanced to the second round of the 2007 World Cup.
