Bangladesh is set to face Australia in a white-ball series from June 9. For the ODI series, the BCB released a squad on Wednesday, June 3, where a veteran had been recalled after a significant gap in 50-over cricket.

The series will begin with a 3-game ODI series followed by a 3-game T20I series. However, the squad released by the board is just for the first two games, which could be revised before the third ODI.

Bangladesh recall forgotten star after 4 years for Australia ODIs

Meanwhile, Bangladesh announced a 15-member squad for the first two ODIs against Australia. Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been named captain while wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan has been recalled.

One of the biggest surprises in the squad is the inclusion of Mosaddek Hossain, who is making a comeback in the ODIs after 4 years. The selectors have rewarded Mosaddek's outstanding domestic form.

He has been one of the best performers in the Dhaka Premier League, scoring heavily with the bat while also contributing with his off-spin. In DPL, Hossain scored a century and 2 fifties with an average of 89 while also picking up 11 wickets.

Bangladesh are likely to use him at No. 6, a position where they have struggled to find consistency. Apart from this, Bangladesh have left out Afif Hossain and Mahidul Islam since the duo didn’t make the best of their opportunities.

Nurul Hasan returns as well

Besides Mosaddek Hossain, wicketkeeper batter Nurul Hasan is also making a comeback in the ODIs. The selectors view him as a better fit for the No. 6 or No. 7 role than Mahidul, who is primarily a top-order batter.

His inclusion gives Bangladesh another wicketkeeping option alongside Litton Das. Hasan also has better finishing capability with experience.

While the batting unit continues to search for consistency, the pace attack looks dangerous as it features Nahid Rana, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman and Shoriful Islam.

Nahid Rana is especially one to watch after his recent breakthrough performances, including multiple five-wicket hauls across formats.

Bangladesh to host Australia in white-ball tour

The Australia tour of Bangladesh 2026 will consist of a three-game ODI and T20I series. For starters, the ODI series will go on from June 9 to 14. On the other hand, the T20I series will start on June 17 and end on June 21.

This series is crucial for Bangladesh, as they will look to extend their dominance at home against a quality side like Australia. Also, the return of experienced faces will help Bangladesh form a settled unit and fix their batting woes in the 50-over format.

The first ODI of the three-game series will be held on June 9 at the Shere Bangla Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka.
