Yuvraj Singh was a dynamic all-rounder and one of India’s greatest limited-over cricketers, renowned for his explosive batting, electric fielding, and match-winning abilities. His international career spanned from 2000 to 2019.

The left-handed batter is best known as the architect of India's victories in the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup.

He famously smashed six sixes in a single over against England's Stuart Broad in the 2007 T20 World Cup, a historic feat that remains etched in cricket forklore. The event has been marked in every cricket fan’s memory forever.

However, in recent times, the legendary Indian batter has made a name for himself as a mentor and for his coaching prowess. Notably, Yuvraj Singh isn’t a professional coach, but several Punjab-based cricketers swear by his “Midas touch” to their game.

For a long time, the Indian legend has been on the radar of many teams, with them hoping he would join their coaching set-up. Finally, on 19 June, 2026, Yuvraj Singh joined the Indian Premier League franchise Delhi Capitals for the 2027 edition, marking his first coaching stint in the IPL.

Thus, in this article, take a look at the list of cricketers who have been blessed by Singh’s contribution in their career.

5) Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya

The 25-year-old batter from Punjab, Prabhsimran Singh, is an aggressive batter who looks to dominate the powerplay. In the 2025 mega-auction, he was retained by PBKS, a decision he justified with his most productive season yet, and he has since been an asset to the team.

Prabhsimran amassed 549 runs, his first 500-plus campaign, striking at an impressive 160.62 and providing consistent starts.

Priyansh is yet another promising opener who plays for PBKS in IPL. In 2025, Punjab Kings secured him for INR 3.8 Crore. Featuring in all 17 matches of the season, he amassed 475 runs at a strike rate close to 180, emerging as one of the most dangerous openers in the tournament.

His standout knock came in the form of a breathtaking 103 off 42 balls against Chennai Super Kings, underlining his ability to convert starts into match-defining innings.

Among the many beneficiaries of Yuvraj’s mentorship are the Punjab Kings’ opening duo Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya.

The 25-year-old Prabhsimran, during the IPL 2026 season, shared a heartwarming story on Yuvraj Singh’s coaching style.

He said, “With Yuvraj paaji, it's never a coach-student relationship. He is like a big brother to me. I trained with him recently along with Priyansh. It was Priyansh’s first time, but I usually call him whenever I have time and want to train. He arranges everything himself, whether it is in Mohali or Gurgaon. You can even call him at 3-4 in the night and share anything, he is always available and given me a lot of freedom.”

The remarks by Prabhsimran show the growing influence of Yuvraj amongst the talented pool of youngsters.

4) Sanju Samson

Ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, Indian opener Sanju Samson trained with former Indian cricketer and mentor Yuvraj to fine-tune his batting.

Video clips of their net sessions went viral in January 2026, showcasing Yuvraj personally mentoring Samson and offering specific tips on improving his footwork.

It is worth noting that Sanju went on to become the standout star of the tournament, winning the Player of the Tournament as he led India to a record third title and their first on home soil.

The focused camp targeted enhancing Pant’s mental fortitude, refining his shot selection, and restructuring his batting technique for white-ball cricket.

2) Abhishek Sharma

Yuvraj Singh has also been the personal mentor and coach for Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Abhishek Sharma, who has seen a meteoric rise in his career. Singh has significantly refined Abhishek’s fearless batting approach, fitness, and big-match temperament.

Time and again, Abhishek has credited Yuvraj for his transformation.

“I was struggling a bit back then. I wasn’t consistent in the IPL and was not even in the playing XI, while players from my age group, like Shubman, were already playing for India. I started to feel left behind," he said on the Breakfast with Champions show.

It was then that Yuvraj gave him a perspective that has stayed with him ever since. Over a casual lunch at Yuvraj’s home, the 2011 World Cup hero told Abhishek that he wasn’t grooming him to simply represent Punjab, play in the IPL, or even just earn an India cap.

Instead, Yuvraj said, “Main tujhe ready kar raha hun taki tu India ko matches jeetaye (I’m preparing you to win matches for India). Write this down—it will happen in the next two to three years."

1) Shubman Gill

Among the most high-profile players linked to Yuvraj’s mentorship is Indian ODI captain Shubman Gill. The right-hander extensively trained with Yuvraj during the 2020 pandemic lockdown. Yuvraj worked on Gill’s back-foot technique and ability to handle short-pitched bowling.

As Indian cricket continues to produce a new generation of power hitters and versatile batters, it is safe to say that, over the recent few years, Yuvraj Singh has played a crucial role in shaping the future of Indian cricket talent.
