Yet another action-packed season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2026) concluded on May 3, 2026, at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. Led by Babar Azam, Peshawar Zalmi defeated the debutants Hyderabad Kingsmen by 5 wickets to end a 9-year trophy drought and win their second PSL title (2017 and 2026).
Notably, Australian all-rounder Aaron Hardie was the star of the final with a dominant all-round performance, taking 4 wickets and scoring an unbeaten 56.
Since its inception in 2016, the Pakistan Super League has become one of the most prominent leagues in the world, bringing together local talent and international legends on the same field.
PSL 11: A New Era of Pakistan’s most premier cricket league
The 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League concluded as the most competitive season ever. Every franchise entered with a stronger squad and bigger ambitions.
Moreover, due to the major structural changes, expansion, and a shift in player acquisition, PSL 11 was the first season to feature eight teams and adopt a full auction model rather than a draft.
However, the season’s biggest change was the late venue shift. The tournament was originally announced as a 44-match, 39-day event across six venues (including first-time PSL hosts in Faisalabad and Peshawar).
While most of the tournament was played behind closed doors, crowds were permitted for the playoffs and final following approval from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Notably, the PSL 2026 final set a record attendance with 32,461 fans packing Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on May 3, 2026.
On the same note, in this article, take a look at the year-wise winners of the Pakistan Super League, including winning captains and head-coaches who led their respective teams to the mantle.
PSL Winners over the years: 2016 to 2026
In the inaugural edition in 2016, led by Misbah-ul-Haq, Islamabad United made history as the first-ever PSL champions, defeating Quetta Gladiators. Over the years, they have built a legacy of their own.
Each PSL season has become better than the previous one in terms of the quality of cricketers taking part as well as the young talents emerging.
That being said, take a look at the list of all PSL winners:
Over the eleven seasons, five different teams have lifted the trophy. However, no team has dominated the tournament quite like Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars.
Islamabad won the very first edition in 2016, then came back to claim the title again in 2018 and added a third crown in 2024, making them one of the only two franchises to win three PSL titles.
Moreover, Lahore Qalandars have won the PSL title three times: 2022, 2023, and 2025, making them one of the most successful franchises in the league's history. Led by captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, they became the first team to win back-to-back titles and also the first to defend their title.
Islamabad United: Won in 2016, 2018, and 2024.
Lahore Qalandars: Won in 2022, 2023, and 2025.
Peshawar Zalmi: Won the title once (2017), along with several runner-up finishes.
Multan Sultans, Karachi Kings, & Quetta Gladiators: Have each won one title.
