RCB Shockingly Bids Farewell To 18-Year-Old Loyalist With Emotional Video

The defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), are enjoying an impressive campaign in the ongoing IPL 2026 season. Under the leadership of Rajat Patidar, the team is currently placed 2nd on the IPL 2026 points table with 12 points, having won 6 of their 9 matches.

RCB's success has been driven by consistent performances from several players this season. It is important to note that star batter Virat Kohli has been in excellent form in IPL 2026. 

The former RCB captain has made 379 runs in 9 matches at a strike rate of 165.50, while contributions from players like captain Rajat Patidar, Devdutt Padikkal, and Tim David have also strengthened the RCB's batting lineup.

In the bowling department, Josh Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Suyash Sharma and Krunal Pandya have made significant contributions to the team.

Key RCB member leaves team

Amid their strong season, RCB recently shared an emotional update off the field. The franchise bid farewell to their long-serving head physio, Evan Speechly, who was part of the team from 2008 to 2025. 

Widely regarded as one of the original members of the RCB setup, Evan Speechly played a crucial role behind the scenes in managing player fitness and recovery over the years.

In a heartfelt video shared on social media, players and staff gathered to honour his contribution. He even travelled to Bengaluru for the special farewell, making the moment more meaningful. The franchise described it as the "end of an era".

RCB remaining games in IPL 2026

It is vital to mention that RCB last played against Gujarat Titans in match 42 of the ongoing IPL. The Shubman Gill-led team defeated the defending champions by 4 wickets.

After winning the toss, GT chose to bowl first and restricted RCB to just 155 runs in 19.2 overs. Virat Kohli looked in good touch and hit Kagiso Rabada for five boundaries in one over. 

However, Rabada made a strong comeback and dismissed Kohli soon after. Following his wicket, RCB’s batting lineup collapsed, losing wickets quickly in the middle overs.

During the chase, Shubman Gill scored 43 runs, while Jos Buttler added 39 runs with an aggressive approach. Their performances helped GT chase down the target in just 15.5 overs.

RCB will now look to bounce back in their next match against Lucknow Super Giants on May 7 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.
