Ever since his Test debut in 2018, Rishabh Pant has been a force to reckon with in red-ball cricket, and time and again, he has proven to be India’s biggest match-winner in the game’s longest format. He recently broke the record of becoming the first Indian to hit 100 sixes in Tests and has also delivered for the team in the WTC cycle.

The World Test Championship (WTC) started in 2019, and seven years later, Pant has been the most prolific batter in the competition and has been the best wicket-keeper as well.

He has scored truckloads of runs in the WTC in the last seven years, and in this article, we take a look at the list of wicket-keepers with the most runs in WTC history, ft. Rishabh Pant.

5) Tom Blundell (1469 runs)

The New Zealand wicket-keeper, Tom Blundell has been one of the most underrated batters in WTC history, and he has perfectly filled the void left by BJ Watling.

Blundell has been a regular feature for the Kiwis since 2020, and he has played 33 Tests in WTC and has racked up 1469 runs, with an average of 28.25.

The Kiwi batter has registered the fifth-most runs by a wicketkeeper in the WTC, and he has a chance to climb the ladder in the upcoming games.

4) Litton Das (1863 runs)

The Bangladesh batter was poor in the Test series against Australia, but over the course of the last few years, the right-handed batter has been outstanding with the bat.

Since the inception of the WTC in 2019, Litton has taken part in 29 Tests for the Bangladesh side, and he has scored 1863 runs, with an average of 37.26. In those matches, the talented batter has registered 10 fifties and four hundreds to his name, and has scored the fourth most WTC runs by a wicket-keeper.

3) Alex Carey (2387 runs)

Australia needed a reliable batter at number 7 in Tests to carry forward the legacy of Adam Gilchrist, and Brad Haddin, and Alex Carey came in as a messiah for them.

He is a cool and calm customer, and since playing Tests in the WTC, Carey has represented Australia in 50 Tests and boasts an outstanding record. He has scored 2387 runs, with an average of 35.1, including 13 fifties and 3 hundreds.

Moreover, in the last couple of years, Carey has become Australia’s crisis man, helping them bail out of tricky situations on numerous occasions.

2) Mohammad Rizwan (2545 runs)

Ever since the WTC concept started in 2019, Pakistan have been poor in Tests, and they have never managed to qualify for the finals. However, one shining light for them has been their wicket-keeper batter, Mohammad Rizwan.

Batting at number 5 for the Men in Green, Rizwan has scored truckloads of runs, and in 42 Tests, the batter has accumulated 2545 runs, with an average of 38.56. Currently, he is the second-highest run-getter by a wicket-keeper in WTC history.

1) Rishabh Pant (2948 runs)

Arguably India’s greatest-ever Test keeper, Rishabh Pant has scored runs in difficult circumstances for India, and whenever the team needs him, the southpaw has stood tall.

In the last seven years (ever since the WTC started), Pant has accumulated 2948 runs in 42 Tests, with an average of 42.72, and has become the most prolific Asian keeper-batter in away Tests.

In the same period, he has registered six hundreds and 18 fifties, and has won countless games for India as he tops the chart of most runs scored by a wicket-keeper in the WTC.
