The PSL 2026 season is over, and after 44 gruelling matches, the Babar Azam-led Peshawar Zalmi defeated the newest PSL team, Hyderabad Kingsmen, in a one-sided finale. Peshawar lost just a solitary match in the entire tournament and were almost flawless as they captured yet another championship.

PSL is all about finding local talent and helping them nurture their game so that they can break into the Pakistan side. The tournament also provided an opportunity for experienced campaigners who were out of the national team, giving them a platform to deliver the goods.

Numerous Pakistan stars showcased their skills and auditioned for a place in the T20I setup. In this piece, we take a look at 3 such players who performed well and can get into the Pakistan T20I squad for the next series.

1) Sameer Minhas

For years, Pakistan has been craving for a hard-hitting opening T20I batter, and while they found Sahibzada Farhan for that role, the team still needed a reliable and aggressive batter to become his partner, and perhaps, their search could be over.

There was no doubt that Sameer Minhas, the right-handed batter was one of the most promising young talents in the country, but the golden boy of Pakistan needed a big tournament to showcase his skills.

PSL 2026 provided him with that stage, and the batter didn’t fail as he piled on truckloads of runs, and the Islamabad United opener made a name for himself.

The stylish opener made runs for fun as he slammed 349 runs, but most importantly, had a strike rate of 155.80, which was one of the best in the league.
With Saim Ayub failing for Pakistan as an opener, and him not doing well in the PSL 2026, the openers’ slot is wide open, and Minhas should be the first names on the team sheet for thr future Pakistan T20I series.

2) Sufiyan Muqeem

What more can the mystery bowler, Sufiyan Muqeem, do to get into the Pakistan T20I squad? He finished as the highest wicket-taker in the PSL 2026, and completely bamboozled the opponent as Peshawar Zalmi won the league.

The T20 World Cup 2026 gave an indication that Pakistan has decided to lock in Usman Tariq as their first choice spinner in the format, and that leaves the door open for the second spinner. There is Abrar Ahmed in the scheme of things, but Sufiyan just outsmarted everyone in PSL.

3) Hunain Shah

Hunain Shah came in as a surprise package in the PSL 2026 season. Who can forget his magical last over against Islamabad United, when the Hyderabad pacer won the game from the jaws of defeat?

He is fast, he is furious, and the right-arm pacer has one of the best yorkers in the league, and if nurtured, Hunain can be Pakistan’s answer to their death-bowling woes.
