Two struggling sides will collide in IPL 2026 match 47 as the Mumbai Indians take on the Lucknow Super Giants. Mumbai has lost 7 matches out of 9 played, and is almost out of the playoff race, with the team only alive on a mathematical basis.
LSG is following the same path as MI, as the Rishabh Pant-led side has lost 6 out of the eight games played, and are languishing at the bottom of the table. However, having lost 6 games, LSG’s fate still lies in their hands.
Talking about the Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai side, the team faces a crisis, both in the batting and bowling departments. However, the major issues lie in their famed batting lineup. Barring Ryan Rickelton, almost everyone has failed to deliver the goods for the former IPL champions.
Ahead of the MI Vs LSG IPL Match, here is how the Mumbai Indians could lineup for this riveting clash.
MI predicted playing XI Vs LSG, IPL 2026, Match 47
Openers and top order: Will Jacks, Ryan Rickelton(w), Naman Dhir
Ryan Rickelton has been Mumbai’s best batter in the ongoing IPL 2026, and the batter already has a century to his name in the tournament. Throughout the campaign, Rickelton has given fiery starts in the powerplay, and he’ll be expected to do the same against the LSG attack.
Alongside him, English batter Will Jacks will open the batting. Jacks played well on his debut IPL 2026 game, and with Rohit Sharma absent due to an injury, a right-left combination is the way to go against LSG.
The all-rounder can also chip in with a couple of overs, which could be beneficial for the team. Naman Dhir has been promoted at 3 this IPL season, and he'll continue to play their.
Middle order and all-rounders: Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya(c), Mayank Rawat, Corbin Bosch
On paper, Suryakumar Yadav should be the first name dropped from the MI playing XI, and there are reasons for it. In nine IPL games this season, he has scored just 183 runs, with an average of 20, and a strike rate of 144.
He has scored just a solitary fifty this season, and the Indian captain looks a pale shadow of his former self. However, despite the reasons given, MI might not drop him since there is mo like-for-like replacement, and Surya is just one game away from getting back in form.
Tilak Varma, who has been demoted in IPL 2026, will be used as a floater, and same is the case with Hardik Pandya, the captain.
Mayank Rawat, the promising all-rounder should replace Robin Minz in the playing XI, and Corbin Bosch will act as the finisher for the Mumbai Indians. With Trent Boult struggling, Bosch should replace him in the XI.

Bowlers: Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, AM Ghazanfar
On a seaming Wankhede deck, Shardul Thakur could be useful in the middle-overs, and he could be the one to replace the underperforming Krish Bhagat. Allah Ghazanfar has been MI’s best bowler in IPL 2026, and expect him to lead the Mumbai attack vs LSG.
There is a case for Jasprit Bumrah to be dropped based on his performance, but just like Surya, there is no like-for-like Bumrah replacement, and hence, he’ll continue to get the management backing vs LSG.
