The T20 World Cup 2026 journey concluded with a loss in the final for New Zealand, one of the most consistent teams in the ICC tournaments. The Blackcaps faced a one-sided 96-run defeat in the summit clash against the holders India, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
After qualifying for the semi-finals on the grounds of a better net run rate compared to Pakistan, the Kiwis completely outmuscled South Africa in the first semi-final. Furthermore, they won the first semi-final by a massive margin of nine wickets to secure a spot in the final.
But things took a drastic turn for Mitchell Santner’s men in the tournament’s title clash. In another ‘nearly missed’ T20 World Cup journey, New Zealand’s decent campaign was led by some of the brilliant performers with the bat, like Tim Seifert and Finn Allen.
Besides the batting brilliance of these two, Rachin Ravindra and Matt Henry were the two most successful bowlers for their side in the tournament. Given that, here are New Zealand’s player ratings for the T20 World Cup 2026
New Zealand player ratings for T20 World Cup 2026
Batters
Tim Seifert - 8.5/10
The star wicketkeeper-batter and opener, Tim Seifert, had emerged as the most successful batter for New Zealand in the recently concluded prestigious cricket biennial. Seifert was one of the few positives the Kiwis could take forward after their ‘final step’ failure in the T20 World Cup 2026.
Tim Seifert also finished as the second leading run-scorer in the tournament’s 10th edition. He aggregated 326 runs in eight innings at an average of 46.57 and a strike rate of 166.32, hitting four half-centuries. He also ended up as the leading run-scorer for New Zealand amidst a drastic collapse against India in the final.
Finn Allen - 7.5/10
The swashbuckling opener Finn Allen, unfortunately, failed to live up to his side’s expectations in the T20 World Cup 2026 final. But it was his record-breaking and blistering century against South Africa in the semi-final that comfortably took his side into the final.

The 26-year-old batter scored 298 runs in eight innings at a brilliant batting average of 49.66 and an outstanding strike rate of 200.00. He also smashed a century and a half-century in the recently concluded World T20 campaign. He ended up as the second leading run-scorer for his side in the tournament.
Glenn Phillips - 6.5/10
The Kiwi camp’s hopes mostly relied on Glenn Phillips, considering his power-hitting abilities. The 29-year-old had quite a decent contribution with the bat, scoring 181 runs in six innings at an average of 36.20 and a strike rate of 157.39, including a half-century.
Besides that, his contributions, with unmatched fielding abilities across all corners of the ground, will be remembered as one of the highlights of the tournament. He executed 11 successful catches in eight innings, with the maximum of three catches in an innings.
Mark Chapman - 2/10
Mark Chapman was one of the notable failures for New Zealand in their T20 World Cup 2026 journey. He could score just 80 runs in five innings at a below-par batting average of 18.80 and a strike rate of 151.61.
Chapman also failed miserably in the final against India when his team needed him the most. He scored just three runs off eight balls with a horrific strike rate of 37.50.
Daryl Mitchell - 2/10
The veteran batter, Daryl Mitchell, batted in five innings of the nine matches he played for New Zealand in the tournament. In these appearances, the southpaw couldn’t impress much with his outings, as he scored just 80 runs in five innings at a poor batting average of 20.00 and a sluggish strike rate of 125.00.
His highest individual score in the T20 World Cup 2026 was just 32. In the final against the Men in Blue, Daryl Mitchell could score only 17 runs off 11 balls, and his dismissal was the fall of his team's last hope for the title.

All-Rounders
Rachin Ravindra - 7/10
The star all-rounder Rachin Ravindra had been one of the top performers for his side in the tournament, except for a bad day for him in the final. With the bat, he scored 129 runs in seven innings, with a half-century and two unbeaten appearances.
The 26-year-old also ended up as the leading wicket-taker for New Zealand. He picked 12 wickets in seven innings at a decent economy rate of 7.84, including a four-wicket haul (4/27).
Mitchell Santner - 5/10
The Kiwi skipper, Mitchell Santner, showed a bit of fight with the bat in the T20 World Cup 2026, but failed to translate the same with the ball. He scored 120 runs in five innings at an average of 40.00 and a strike rate of 142.85, including two unbeaten outings.
The leader himself was a disappointment for his side with the bowling performances. Santner could scalp just two wickets in seven innings. So, he was one of the weak links in the Kiwi bowling attack, as he failed to succeed despite the spin-friendly tracks of India and New Zealand.
Cole McConchie - 2/10
Cole McConchie was included in the New Zealand squad as a replacement for the injured all-rounder Michael Bracewell. McConchie couldn't be very effective for his side, mostly with the ball. He could score just two wickets in four innings at an expensive economy rate of 9.50.
Notably, McConchie was also replaced by the pacer Jacob Duffy in the New Zealand playing XI for the final against India.
James Neesham - 5/10
The veteran all-rounder James Neesham batted only in two innings and scored 31 runs, including an unbeaten 23-run knock. Besides that, he scalped six wickets in six innings, conceding runs with a poor economy rate of 10.64 and an expensive strike rate of 17.00.
In the final against India, he showed a bit of brilliance, claiming three wickets in the 16th over. But he also ended up getting expensive, accompanying his fellow teammates. Eventually, Neesham ended up with the figures of three wickets for 46 runs in his four overs.
Bowlers
Lockie Ferguson - 4.5/10
The star pacer Lockie Ferguson hasn’t had an expected run of form in the T20 World Cup 2026. He was one of the most expensive bowlers for New Zealand in the tournament. Ferguson claimed six wickets in seven innings at an expensive economy rate of 9.96 and a costly strike rate of 20.16.
He was also the most expensive bowler for the Blackcaps in the tournament’s final against India. Ferguson conceded 48 runs in just two overs at a horrible economy rate of 24.00, without taking any wickets.
Jacob Duffy - 2/10
Right-arm pacer Jacob Duffy played in five matches for New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2026 and bowled in all the matches. But he failed to produce even one impactful bowling performance.
Duffy could bag only three wickets in five innings at an economy rate of 10.86 and an economy rate of 30.00. So, he also fell into the prominent failures for New Zealand in the marquee international tournament.
Matt Henry - 7/10
The pace spearhead, Matt Henry’s journey in the T20 World Cup 2026 ended up as the second leading wicket-taker for New Zealand. He claimed 10 wickets in eight innings at an economy rate of 8.24, but he had quite a costly bowling strike rate of 17.10.
What went disappointing for the Blackcaps was Henry’s ‘below average’ bowling performance in the tournament’s final. He could pick just one wicket for 49 runs in his four overs at a miserable economy rate of 12.25.
Kyle Jamieson - 1/10
The 6’8” giant pacer, Kyle Jamieson could get only one match to play for New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2026. He made his only appearance for his side in the group-stage clash against Canada, in which he picked only one wicket, conceding 41 runs in four overs.
